I was wondering if any of you had a booth at a flea market?

What do you sell?, How much do you earn?, What kind of licensing do you need?, and How was your experience?

About 15 yrs ago I did this. I found a local wholesale house and I purchased items in bulk there then sold them at several different flea markets. I made good money at it as long as you don't mind working weekends. You need to pick out current trend-like items. I ended up making a lot of friends too. Good Luck!

Yes I did. I had a booth in a flea market in south texas one winter. I sold mostly mexican items that I brought back across the border 2 or 3 times a week.

Let's see... I had rugs, sarapes, bed spreads, art works, ceramics, spices, pure vanilla, rock carvings, sea shells and sea shell products... there was more...

On a good day I could make $100, but it was usually less.
I had to buy a city license but I had a tax number from another business and could use it.
It was not a good experience. It was a lot of hard work and investment and the return on investment was poor.

I did it lots in other states not Texas. If you don't have to do for a living get your stuff together the last three weeks of the month sell at the market Fri. Sat. and Sun. on the first week end when the money out from ssi ss checks and people that are paid monthly you will do better. See how it goes then you will know how you want to work. The key is finding the sellable items.

I did it once... I sold children's books. But I didn't sell any for that whole day! I didn't need a license... I just paid a fee to utilize some space. I was disappointed, of course. But while I sat there watching customers buy fishing equipment, ceramics, and antiques, I realized I just probably wasn't in the right market for my product. I did much better having home parties... inviting people with kids was more of my market than a flea market.

i go to the flea market about once a month selling office supplies and knick-knacks. i get this stuff for free since i clean offices at night (no, not stealing); folks are always throwing out stuff that still has some use. i also find stuff on the roadside that has been discarded on trash day and clean it up (furniture, bikes, lamps). i got a tax i.d. number at the tax office for $5. the table cost $10. i make about $30-50 before expenses. its fun because you make friends with the other sellers who come every weekend. i only go on saturday morning, it seems the best time for customers. afternoon is too hot and folks are doing other things on sunday morn. its good to have a variety of stuff or sell a themed item just before a holiday.
