USB cables, at least by themselves do not have networking abilities, you can however, buy a USB 2.0 to Ethernet adapter to use in the PC that does not have an Ethernet connection then you can just use your standard LAN cable to connect them together, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812107293

NOT advisable.

You'll introduce all kinds of interference and attenuation.

Instead of just a long USB cable, get a USB ethernet adapter. Then use regular networking cable between the two PCs.

Have fun.

yes you can network the two pcs together but the data transfer rate would be irratingly slow and probably not be worth the amount of work you put in... still if you're set on not spending any money... or just want to do it b/c it can be done email for further details

Rather than taking the chance of screwing up your computer's - I would definitely contact a computer place and ask them - it's not worth blowing up your computer or computer's. OR, call Fry's Electronic's their pretty knowledgeable in stuff like that - just ask for the Computer department. There's a Fry's Electronic's in Anaheim, 714-688-3000 is their phone number. Good luck to you.

Check with Compusa or Bestbuy, there is a cable with a USB connector on each end for your purpose. You have to have the drivers.
