I'm a girl, and I love football. I'm actually pretty good at it as a WR, but the boys don't want me on the team. They haze me constantly, on game days we have to share a locker/shower room, so I go to my own little corner to get dressed, but even then they mess with me. I'm not bad looking, kinda cute if I do say so myself, why do the boys have such an issue with me playing Football? It's a fun game!
Shouldn't boys want more girls to play and be interested? Aren't all the married men complaining that their wives pester them and such when the game is on?
What should I do to help solve the problem? I brought them cookies and brownies that I made myself as like a truce offering, but they threw them in the trash!

They dont want you to show them up. Men have the biggest egos in the world and there pretty sexist when there with a group of guys around there age. I wouldnt bring treats in for them, they dont think your tough enough to play with them probally, so baking them stuff isnt thet best way of showing your toughness.

There are a few good female athletes that can play with guys at the amateur level. This doesn't surprise me. The only time we would be surprised is if there were a woman who weighed 220 pounds and ran a 4.5 40 yard dash, who bench presses 225 pounds at least 10 times. Is also tested negative for steroids. Finally plays at a major D1 School and puts up good numbers, break tackles, etc. The chances of this are extremely remote but we have a common interest in this great game of football and that is fine with me. Anyway I think there is a women's pro football league if I'm not mistaken.

it will always be like that. i played on a boys traveling team in 1992. I was running back and defensive end. I recieved the highest award in the club. My teamates didn't mind because i was better than most of them. We were only 12. I had the most problems from the opposite team. We I got tackled they pinched my butt. They would hit me harder. you just have to take it. Show them you skillz and they will come around to it. Women's football didn't really pick up in america. There is a professional league but very small and you play for pennies. They play for the game. Women's Profesional Football League WPFL. Look it up. KIT let me know how everything goes. Just be careful some people get jelous. I was in the newspaper a lot because usally the star of the team and others didn't like that from a girl. But people resected for me because my younger brother who is a year younger than me was the star of the club. Every age and division knew about him so they didn't pick on me. Just the other teams in the league. It took me to i was 12 to convince my parents. I wanted to play since i was 8. I also coached a travel team. Good luck with everything.

because boy (some but not all) are sexist they don't think a girl belongs on the field because they think thier more fragile than a guy. I'm a guy and i completely support you decision to play because i use to play a little football myself and we had this one girl on the team she was one of the fastest and best players we had. I believe if they wanna play get out there on the field and show them guys what you got. those guys are immature and need to grow up (that's funny coming from a 13 year old). ummm....if you wanna talk some more then you can e-mail me at badboys_newageoutlaw2000@yahoo.com please you seem awesome and I would really wanna keep in touch. oh and about the cookies and brownies i would have tried some of them and i would probly have thought they were good.

It isn't traditional, change is difficult to get used to. I do think that football is not for most girls to play, but there are a few. I play just as hard against a girl when I'm playing basketball. Knocked them down a few times and they get up just like the guys do. Maybe the guys think they will hurt you or something. Once you get hit by a free safety that plays with wreckless abandon, it will hurt no matter what gender you are. One of my friends was a wide reciever in high school and he was knocked out because he was hit so hard. I know another guy who had his arm shattered. If opposing teams dont know, they will hit you just as hard as the next guy. But if opposing teams find out you will be treated differently. I know it isnt necessarily right, but that is how it will be. You're just going to have to stick it out if you want to continue to play football. And not all married men complain about that. Some do, most dont. Guys like to hang out with their friends when they watch it. The way to solve the problem is to play just as good as the guys do, but you actually have to play better than they do.

that's a tough one. some are afraid that you'll see their little weiners and judge them. some are sexist and don't believe you should be on the field with them. some resent that they can't talk about women or sex in front of you. some think you are attractive and therefore a distraction.
whatever the issue (individual and collective) it will never be resolved no matter what you do. baking cookies and brownies for them only reinforces the negative stereotypes.

Don't let it bother you. It sounds like your teammates are jerks. I resent some of the comments from obviously female posters in this question, but don't let them bother you. Let your play speak for you. And bringing cookies and brownies ain't going to win them over. They don't respect you because they have a fallacious perception of women as somehow weaker(which simply isn't true...at least not when it comes to toughness).

purely its a testosterone sport. all do respect to you, you might be the best player on the teem but its just a game for guys to play .none of the guys worry about hitting another guy to hard.but a girl is a different story most of us are taught to respect females in respects of not hitting them so whats a guy to do. haze you no matter how good looking you are? they could see as just tring to ruin there sport?

They should let girls on football teams boys are wrong!! They always get what they want. Girls should be aloud to be on a girls football team. (Example: Theres is a girls basket ball team and the boys dont mind that. i mean if you cant be on a football team girl you should try basket ball.
