And, no, it's not a power of attorney....talk to your lawyer and draw up a contract; you don't want him to have a power of attorney because he could take advantage of all your finances if you 2 broke up and there's nothing you could do about it; you're looking for more of a "will type" document that would give you both certain "rights" concerning your/his health, or other medical decisions, items that you may think are nonessential or not assets, family members may look at differently and try to grab unless everything is spelled out....call the lawyer....or you can actually write up an agreement yourselves and have it notarized; but the lawyer is better...

A common law marriage doesn't require any legal paperwork or an actual wedding. The laws differ from state to state, but all require that you share a residence and that your personal finances be intertwined in some way.

As someone else posted, you can also fill out the paperwork to grant him Power of Attorney. You'll need to do this anyway in order for him to be able to sign certain medical documents on your behalf (even married couples have to do that).

And you don't need to be married to name him as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Well if you each have no assets or children why do you need a contract? Either way...its a legal contract. I fail to understand the point of your question.

You want a contract for you both but you don't want to get married.

Go to a lawyer and tell lawyer what exactly you want. They will write it up and it will be a legal contract.

In case you didn't know it. A legal contract is more binding than a marriage license.

No way! Get married. Even a marriage and divorce is cheaper than a lawyer.

A power of Attorney would give him complete control of your finances. I don't think that is what you are looking for. A lot of the other suggestions that were mentioned seemed very viable. Would the real dipshit Please Stand Up!!

What you are saying doesn't make too much sense. Just get married and enjoy it!
