Yes. Although it is in it's infancy it has still resolved many of the clashes with 'classical' physics.

It is a theory but then so is general relativity and Newton's gravitational theory before it and everyone tkaes them to be true.

I have a feeling that when the new particle accelerator in Europe starts operating in 2010 we may find a few shreds of evidence that string theory may be the next step to the GUT.

this is a ailment that has contaminated the Left for countless a protracted time. think of approximately it. The ACLU working example, is a considerable Liberal enterprise that believes it extremely is all approximately human rights. yet, whose rights do they safeguard? The criminals' or their sufferers'? i will cite many cases whilst they defended the accused yet can not think of of a unmarried time they defended the guy who become injured or their households. They like to rail approximately Constitutional rights yet whilst become the final time they defended gun vendors who have been taken care of unfairly via the BATF? the place become their outrage whilst the FBI sniper killed Randy Weaver's pregnant spouse with a babe in her palms on the direction of criminal professional regular Janet Reno? Cue the crickets. i don't be conscious of what reasons it yet for some reason the Left only accepts that the government, whilst run via Democrats in basic terms does solid and that the government, whilst run via Republicans does in basic terms evil. Bush signed the Patriot Act and the Left went nuts with regard to the violation of Constitutional rights. yet, the place interior the form does it provide Obama the surprising to take over regular autos? lower back, the silence is deafening. via how, the Left now controls the two the White abode and the Congress however the Patriot Act continues to be in consequence, isn't it? flow determine! *

First off, the correct way to ask that question would be "Does anybody believe in 'String Theory'? Second, it is only a theory, so it still has to be tested for it to become a law.Personally, I side with Albert Enstein and think that String Theory is just a guess.

string theroy? no. string theory, yes. The people who made that theory, at least.

But untill now, it's only a theory since there hasn't been any attempt to prove or disprove it yet.

No. I think it is likely science fiction.

Not an expert, but I understand it postulates 10 dimensions - we don't see them all becuase some of these hypothetical dimensions are rolled up into incredibly tiny spaces.
This theory has since been dropped in favour of superstring theory, also lacking in experimental support, which postulates eleven dimensions.

I think you're right not to use the word theory!
It's an unprovable hypothesis.

Although it is possible, there is basically no real evidence that it is real. It's more philosophy than physics.
