okay so i have this challenge thing in my summer math packet thing and this is my last question(s) and i rly dont get it at all.

1. how many 3/10 (three tenths) centimeter segments are in 3 centimeters _______segments

2.how many 3/10 centimeter segments are in 4 1/5 ( four and one fifths) centimeters __________segments

3. how many 4/10 ( fourth tenths) centimeter segments are in 6 4/5 ( six adn four fifths) centimeters. _________segments

thnks

Simple.

1) 3 cm = 30/10 cm = 10 3/10 cm segments.

2) 4 1/5 = 21/5 cm = 42/10 cm = 14 3/10 cm segments

3) 6 4/5 = 34/5 cm = 68/10 cm = 17 4/10 cm segments

So 1) 10
2)14
3)17

Finndo: "segment" can also mean a portion. Relax. The question was worded just fine.

at the risk of doing your homework for you, I assume you are asking, how many times does 3/10 of a centimeter fit into 3 centimeters... so, 3 divided by 3/10 is 10, right?

3/10, times 2 is 6/10, times 3 is 9/10, 4 is12/10, 5 is 15/10, 6 is 18/10, 7 is 21/10, 8 is 24/10, 9 is 27/10, and 10 is 30/10 or = 3

for the second question, you want to know how many fifths (and then how many 10ths) are in 4 and 1/5, so multiply 4 into 5ths = 20 + the 1/5, is 21/5. Now multiply by 2/2 (=1, but you multiply top and bottom and it's still the same) to get 10ths, 42/10. to find out how many 3/10 cm fits into 42/10, divide 3 into 42, you get 14.

For the third question, you should be able to work it out. You want to know how many times 4 fits into however many 10ths 6 and 4/5 is, same method as above. Multiply it out, you have 6x5=30 plus 4, 34/5, times 2/2 68/10 which I think is 17.

1. 3 ÷ 3/10 = 30

2. 4 1/5 = 21/5

To get 21/5 ÷ 3/10, cross-divide:

21 ÷ 3 = 7
10 ÷ 5 = 2
7 × 2 = 14

3. 6 4/5 = 34/5
4/10 can be factored down to 2/5, which is very convenient because the other number we're working with is also over five.

34/5 ÷ 2/5... since both numbers are over 5, you can treat the /5 like it isn't even there.
34 ÷ 2 = 17

There are 10 milimeters(mm) in one centimeter(cm)
for questions #1 and #2 think of it in terms of mm 3/10 is equal to 3 mm and for #3 4/10 is equal to 4mm

#1)3 cms =30 mm or 10 segments (divide 3 into 30)

#2)4 cms =40 mm plus 1/5 of a cm is 2mm for a total of 42 mms or 14 segments (divide 3 into 42)

#3) 6 cms = 60 mm plus 4/5 of a cm is 8mm for a total of 68 mms or 17segements (divide 4 itno 68)

You need to take the fractions and change them to decimals. for instance the 3/10 would be .3. now divide 3 by .3 and you get 10. Do this with all of the questions.

2. 4.2 (4 1/5) divided by .3=14

3. 6.8 (6 4/5) divided by .4=17

Change fifths to tenths when you need to, then divide. In these problems it might be easier for you to multiply the fractions by 10/10. The fraction doesn't change its value because 10/10 = 1.
1. 3.0/0.3 = 30/3 = 10
2. 4.2/0.3 = 42/3 = 14
3. 6.8/0.4 = 68/4 = 17
Good Luck!

11 cm = 3/10. ---- 3 = 4 r 1. 1 + 11 = 12 cm. so 12 cm ----- 3 = 4. = 4 segments.

# 2 idk

# 3 idk

# 1 i'm not so sure!

I see that many has alredy aswered, but here is mine anyway.

1.
3/10 * x= 3
x=3*10/3=10
2.
3/10*x=4+1/5
3/10*x=21/5
x=21*10/(5*3)=14
3.
4/10*x=6+4/5
4/10*x=34/5
x=34*10/(5*4)=17

the correct answers to the question asked (the way they're formulated):
1) none
2) none
3) none
segments are geometrical objects, not lengths

what they were waiting for:
1) 10 which comes from 3 divided by 3/10
2) 14 which comes from 4.2 / 0.3
3) 17 which comes from 6.8 / 0.4
