Your anger is not all together off base.. this is where my fiscal conservatism kicks in.. you are right about the jobs being filled by illegal immigrants spoiling a living wage for people who are already here. They have done studies that show,, when there is a strong migrant work force illegal or legal ..that the wages go down across the board..IE.. on the coasts you have an abundance of migrant workers and you end up with lower wages for labor type jobs.. in the middle of the country where there is less cheap labor the jobs pay more even though the cost of living is less? ... the idea that these folks come here and fill jobs that Americans don't want is ..BS.. these jobs do not provide a livable wage and as such are unworkable by a person that has to sustain a family or a home.. the only people benefiting from this situation are the business owners, landlords and politicians that are making this a major" forefront national" issue... that is to say That I don't feel that it's not important.. but it's not as important as our insane spending, lack of quality health care, or reckless war profiteering....

The pro amnesty people are so out of touch with the regular working class Americans. There are so many small towns that have lost the only factory in town, because they could make their products cheaper some place else--ask the people who have lost their jobs and trying to raise a family about the illegals doing jobs that Americans won't do, in some places they would love to have a job--any job. To say that we are too lazy to do the work, is total b.s. Also, what if the illegals get sick or hurt, we have to take care of them too-another financial drain on our already stretched dollar!

I agree, it's a crock. But it's a lie that bleeding hearts readily accept. The fact is, illegals do jobs that I don't HAVE to do. It's not a matter of what kind of work I WANT to do.
If our economy tanked today, and I had no choice but to work at Burger King or as a gardener or janitor, you can bet your sweet butt that I WOULD. I wouldn't LIKE it, but I would do it if I HAD to.
But at the moment I don't have to do crap jobs, because I am educated, talented, and have skills - and I make no apologies for that, nor do I feel guilty about it, as the Howard Deans and Nancy Pelosis of the world would like me to (PELOSIS??? eek! - sounds like an infection of some kind...).
So that whole idea is just another limp-wristed bromide from the p ussified left. Wise up, pansies!
Love, Jack.

The majority of illegal immigrants do pay taxes. Approximately 60% are paid on the books which means taxes are taken out. You don't need a social security number in order to file your income taxes. You can use a tax id provided by the IRS. The number of requests for these number has been increasing in recent years. Even the ones who don't pay income taxes are at the lower end of the income scale and probably wouldn't owe very much in taxes if they did pay them. As far as them sending money to their home countries, if that money helps stabilize the economy, as it does in El Salvatore, then it also helps keep that country stable politically. It benefits the US to have stable governments in our corner of the world.

It sure makes no sense. I had to leave an industry I had worked in for years because even though I am an unusually hard worked and had a lot of knowledge about the field, I can't do the work of 3 men.I have nothing personal against any of the illegals and in fact went out of my way to help them out with clothing, teaching them how to use equipment, and more. But as you say ,they are willing to live with a dozen audits in one housing unit and can therefore work for so little, that I could not expect to get any further raises---I already earned way more than them. Also you are correct that much of their pay went to their families in their home countries--which I sure can not begrudge them as INDIVIDUALS--in fact I admired them more their diligence in this---But as a matter of POLICY we need to be in control of the situation. We have plenty of room for Legal immigrants. We are however a nation of laws. If large numbers of people can simply flout our laws how can we function as a democracy?

Yes they send the money home and they work for less compared to Americans. BUT compared to where they are coming from, they make WAAAAAY more in our version of wage slavery than a standard salary in the native country.
And they do take the jobs Americans don't want BECAUSE NO AMERICAN WOULD WILLINGLY GET PAID BELOW MINIMUM WAGE for the jobs they are doing, and most Americans want to get paid more than minimum wage for the jobs the illegals are doing.
If our minimum wage was also a standard wage of living - that is a man or a woman could make enough money to get by ( get by means afford transportation, health care, child care, insurance, shelter, food, clothing, bare necessities) we would not have this problem. But corporations want to keep costs down in order to eliminate competition and keep us consumers dependent on them. In order for Americans to have a standard living wage that was actually practical corporations aka our employers would have to charge us a lot - I don't see you or anyone I know paying five dollars for one apple. I just don't.

the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States are now providing Social Security with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year.
In 2002 alone, nine million W-2's with incorrect Social Security numbers landed in the suspense file, accounting for $56 billion in earnings, or about 1.5 percent of total reported wages.

A big part of the problem is with the Mexican Mafia. They send Coyotes to southern Mexico and recruit people to come to America.
Two big problems exist because of this First the Coyotes allow people to sign over their homes and property as collateral to cover the price charged for conveyance to America. Second the men (I say generically) are then Constantly robbed by the members of MS13 this causes them to default on payment to the Coyotes.
Now faced with their mother loosing her home Mexican immigrants agree to smuggle drugs and cars rebuilt at chop shops. into America.
The end result of hiring the men from a street corner is crime. From top to bottom hiring to trafficking it is proliferation of crime.
