I agree with you the Cards have NO pitching. I think that the Reds may beat them out. The Wild Card team will probably be stronger than the Cards.

I can see ya jumpin on the "bash the NL bandwagon" right now but why pick on their best representative - St Louis - The Cardinals and/or LaRussa?
St. Louis Cardinals
9 World Championships, 16 Pennants, and 21 Playoff Appearances
LaRussa:
1983 AL Manager of the Year
1988 AL Manager of the Year
1992 AL Manager of the Year
2002 NL Manager of the Year
Minnesota Twins
2 World Championships, 3 Pennants, and 8 Playoff Appearances
BTW: I'm a Royals fan

Cardinals?!? no .. Cardinals have a very strong team .. they have a very good chance of beating the Mets in the playoffs if they go into the play-offs strong and on a roll..
With a VERY good ace in Carpenter.. with 5 other "good" starters .. Marquis and Mulders ERA's are a little high, but i think Suppan, and Reyes will maybe splits some starts with them .. and if Weaver continues pitching like he did his last start, he could also get some starts in the play-offs
But to answer your question the worst team in the play-offs would be the Dodgers--ONLY if Phillie wins the wild-card .. If Cinnci wins it .. then the reds are the worst .. If the dodgers dont win thier division then it's definetly who ever else come out of that division ..
But lets just say Dodgers and Phillies go in West and Wild card(with NY winning east, and STL winning Central).. Dodgers have a good pitching staff .. when Lowe starts pitching with alot more consitansy, like he was in the early part of the season, then they can use all 5 pitchers in the play-offs instead of using just 3 or 4 ..
They got the key aqquisition of Maddux.. and with Penny, hendrickson, and the young stud, Billingsley.. and alsoTomko and Sele can start if needed.. but either way they are Great relief pitchers..
BUT--the Phillies have Howard, Utley, and after aquiring Moyer, with another stud in Hammels, ahve a very good pitching rotation ..
my rankings in NL playoffs
1-Mets
2-Cards
3-Phillies
4-Dodgers

The flaw on your wondering is that by using putting forward "all communities in the NL have a a million in 16 danger of prevailing a wild card", this assumes that each and each one communities are equivalent and that's only a roll of the dice, truly. similar with putting forward that each and each one AL West communities have a a million-in-4 shot on the dept. In a 162 sport time table, the ideal communities are going to win their divisions, and the crew with the subsequent ideal list stands proud because the wildcard. Are there some years the position a third position crew in a unmarried branch must be more beneficial valuable than the first position crew in yet another branch? certain. notwithstanding the regulations are a similar for each body. both win your branch (notwithstanding good or weak that branch ought to nicely be) or have the subsequent ideal list in the league to get the wildcard. expertise isn't both dispensed between all communities. that's not even on the brink of being both dispensed between all communities. that's why the percentages are more beneficial valuable for some communities to make the playoffs than for different communities. it has not something to do with what percentage communities are in absolutely everyone branch or league.

The least impressive of the playoff teams will most likely be the NL West winner. Take your pick, Dodgers, Padres, Diamondbacks...none will put up much of a fight. I'd rather take my chances with Chris Carpenter and the Cardinals sluggers in a short series.

probably the Cardinals
The Dodgers are going to win the west so I wouldn't say that they are the worst. Then I would put the NL wild card winner next most likely the reds

Maybe only recently can you mention the Cardinals! Say within the past 5 years or so.
They have WON many championships (Pennants) and EVEN the WORLD SERIES 9 times since 1926!!! Give me some OTHER teams with THAT kind of success pal!
Winning the WORLD SERIES is MAJORLY DIFFICULT!

Worst playoff team might be either padres or reds. Padres doesn't have great pitching. But they have some pitchers to look for. Like Peavy, Park, Young, Willliams, and etc. Of course, they don't have great offense. They DON'T score tons of runs. They lose lots of games because of the offense. NO Runs means lose games.
