My friend...bless her heart...she wears light, light blue, sparkly eye shadow by the tons, chunked up mascara, spakly glitter face rub (that has so many glitters that her face looks olike a disco ball) real red, red lipstick (and she is only 12!!) and shiny face lotions that show off every bump on her face. I need a nice way to tell her how to do her make-up, without making her think I am controlling or mean. What should I do???? I'd let her wear it, but she looks so tacky!

I need to tell her to go light on the make-up, but also, what colors would look good with her face? She is tan, blond hair, freckles, greenish blue eyes, and naturally dark circles under her eyes...help please.

Just play dress up and do her makeup. Just put on vasaline on the cheeks and eyes to give her that shiny glow she loves. A little colored chapstick(she's only 12!) and use an eye lash curler. Go out where tons of people will compliment her on how pretty she looks with virtually no makeup and hopefully she's catch on.

I went through this just i was 10. When i was ten i was breaking out like crazy. So my mom said it was okay for me to wear foundation and lipgloss, but i sorta went over board and i didn't think that it looked bad but it did andmy friends tried to tell me but i wouldn't listen. Just tell her how u feel because if people see her they may make fun of her. u can go over to the mall with her and if you have a sephora or another make up store like max or a deparment store then take her to one of those get them to give her the make up advice cause (they do it for free) if she take the advicethen u have nothing to worry about. Or do a slumber party and buy make up that would look good on both of u, tell her to try it, and for fun take before and after shots tell her how pretty she looks with out the other stuff.

Since her parents allow to wear makeup, as a friend you can go out and buy her some nice makeup and ask her to try it, Tell her come on over to your house and have a girls night, let her try the make up on and tell her how wondrful she looks and that you can see her real beauty, explain that the other makeup is different and that you couldn't really see how pretty her eyes are because you focused on the makeup and not her, then tell her wait until eveyone sees the new makeup on her tell her they will probally will envy how really pretty she is. because she must think makeup makes her look good and she's using it to help her looks and instead its making herself look like a clown

I would plan a girly afternoon and go to the mall, maybe get your hair cut, and then suggest getting little makeovers at the department store. They will help you remove your make-up and apply only what will suit your friend's skintone and age. Plus, it'll be fun. Hopefully she'll enjoy it so much that you can suggest heading to the drug store to buy similar products. You can match colors easily; go to the Estee Lauder counter to get your make-up done. Then you can go to the Loreal section (same company) and match colors! It will be a great way to bond with your friend and hopefully change her look without having to tell her she's out of date. Have fun!

I would plan a day out in the mall, and decide 'on a whim' to both get your makeup done. (but tell the artist to go light-she's only 12!) You know, where they do demos for free. Then keep complimenting your friend on how great she looks and how you wish you looked like that. Hopefully she'll trade in her old ways!

what a shame.
she sounds really pretty except her makeup.
well.....
play makeovers.
do her up really well and get everyone to tell her how stunning she looks!
if that doesnt work tell her that you think that she should get a new style (nicely) and suggest that you 2 go shopping together and point her to all the good makeup stands and if she even tries to go near glitter tell her that glitter is better for younger people.
watever u do.
do it nicely so she isnt hurt!
good luck.

A 12 year old shouldn't be wearing makeup in the first place. Forget telling her how to apply it properly. She should just be sticking to lipgloss at that age.

Flatter her and tell her that her coloring reminds you of Geena Lee Nolin or Scarlet Johansen. Think of someone blonde, tanned and gorgeous with understated make-up an tell her to go for that look as well. I was 12 once and I was like your friend. I thought my style was the envy of all till I looked back at the photos 8 yrs later and wanted to burn them all. I hated people who told me off but responded well to those who flattered me by telling me I looked like Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth(yeah right) and should do my make-up like hers. It worked and I started to aim for that fresh faced look.

Okay you just need to show her how great she would look with lighter make-up. Offer to do her make-up for one day and use things that you think make her beautiful in a natural way. Hopefully she will like it and if not.....tell her the truth. That's what friends are for.

just have a slumber party! do her makeup for her.
for the circles under her eyes, concealer works pretty well (i have that same problem) a brown mascara, brown eyeliner, and maybe some light pink eyeshadow would look cute.
