I came accross James Russel whilsy hollidaying in Sardinia with a group of old friends in about 1987
He had built himself a ¨shelter¨,as i remember he called it, out of sticks and such like and was practicing the finer points of ¨trout tickling¨ in the local waterways.
He seemed in good enough spirits and was not at all missing the mod-cons of conventional life at all.
He did seem to have developed a bit of a funny twitch though and put it down to the cold floor that he spent 18 hours a day lying on in order to ¨tickle¨ the trout.
He has no apparent method of comunication apart from an old trumpet which he said he stole from a jazz cafe on his hasty departure from New Orleans.
Sorry to hear he has given up the gohst and the world shall be without one of the best ¨trout ticklers¨it had ever produced.
