Latin is the official language of Vatican City (technically its own country). But Latin is not spoken anymore. However many countries speak Latin or Romance languages, which are all derived from Latin. These include Portugese, Spanish, French, Italian, and Romanian.

No one speaks Latin any more in everyday life. It was a language of a part of Italy called Latium around 2200 years ago.
It is however used by the Vatican for conducting Catholic ceremonies & the like.

The language is now dead but Latin was the language of Italy and the Roman Empire (As far north as England as south as Egypt) during its time. I know that during the Elizabethan times that those who knew multiple languages as part of thier studies would know latin as to converse with others with that they didn't know the language of.

Nobody speaks latin anymore, as it is a dead, ancient language. However, I study it, and this is because it is the root of many other languages, including English, French and Italian, so is very helpful in learning these.

Latin is a dead language so people saying that are right.
