im not iliterate when it comes to using tools and their names, so dont think that. but i was out in the scrap yard hauling some scraps of sheet metal and i found this little pocket knife-looking thing that has different sized bits in it instead of blades. one i found looks hand made, i actualy think it is. but i have another one that i can tell was bought looking like this. they come in handy, but i havent seen anything that looks like this. they both are old, you can tell how they have been crafted. but ive always seen tool bits that came in a strip or row, not as a pocket knife flip-style design. enlighten me, whats the name of it?

lol, funny you should ask this question

my husband has one that he got from his dad's estate and neither of us knew what to call it...we dubbed it the "handy dandy multi-purpose tool"!!!

Sounds like the prototype Swiss Army Knife which could be very old indeed.
