Most people do not like home truths, and yes some will get upset or angry when you tell them.
It does not annoy me, at the end of the day it's their problem not mine, and if they get that outraged then maybe their not such a good Friend after all!
Good luck NoOdle.

No it doesn't annoy me when someone asks for an honest opinion, it usually upsets them as the truth often hurts!

Yes, although I agree with J J. there are times when you need to be blunt and there are times when you need to sugar the pill. I'm quite a blunt person but I also know that there are ways of saying things to try and minimise hurting people.
the reason people get upset when they say they want an honest answer is because you told them what they didn't want to hear, and that more than likely made them feel foolish. they want you to agree with them and when you don't it makes them feel stupid. we've all done it.

No. Because people realize that I will tell them what I think. And it may not always be what they want to hear. But once they have had time to think it over usually, although they may not agree with me, are grateful that I gave my honest opinion anyway.

No one really wants to hear the truth if it's painful. And it's just your opinion, anyway. It's best to coat it with some sugar or refuse to answer.

oh yeah! i did that recently & now she isn't talking to me.
i guess its just a case of the truth hurts & friends don't actually want the real truth, they want you to agree with their opinion in the first place

Yeah, why do people do that? It's not like you set out to hurt them deliberately but they still fly off the handle.
