Do you think its realy annoying when a friend asks you to give them an honest oppinion, then gets upset or even outraged for telling them the truth???????

That kind of thing has apparently been going on for a long, long time. Some famous person, whose name escapes me at the moment, is credited with saying, the best way to keep a friend is to find out what they want to hear, and tell it to them.

Yes, why do they do that hey, my friend asked me just last week when she tried on a skirt what my honest opinion of it was, I said exactly what I thought, that it was too long and I'd be worried she would trip up in it and hurt herself, that because of the style there would be no point altering it length as it would just spoil the look, she went totally ape sh8t with me and said I was just been mean about her height and then she stormed off leaving me in the shop looking like an idiot as usual, when she eventually caught up with me again she said sorry she was just cross because I was tall and she was short, I keep telling her that is not my fault or hers and the best thing to do is to make the most of her height and its just as hard for me been tall when buying clothes, then she said I was been patronising, I just can't win with her when she is that way out, she wants my honest opinion, I believe in been honest and expect the same off her, but I am always the bad guy, sometimes I just wonder why I bother at all.

Excellent question! Been there done it, bought the T Shirt and sweat shirt as well so got so fed up that i adopted the following tactic ...
"OK i'll tell you exactly what i think but you're going to hate it, hate me for it and react that badly it will mean the end our friendship forever. Now do you still want me to be honest with you?"
Works every time!!!!

Yes it is annoying, but a true friend will not be upset with you for long.

yeah I hate that.
if someone wants an honest opinion, they must allow for the possibility that it won't be theirs. on the other hand, the person being asked shouldn't go overboard on that honesty if it isn't neccessary.

That REALLYYYY annoys me!Especially when they start crying and saying you're not a real friend....they asked for honesty and that's what they got!!!

it does annoy me. but i tell them the truth. they arent coming out with me if they look like a tramp. if they dont like it then they shouldnt have asked my opinion should they

Yes, it is then you need all your tact and diplomacy, you tell the true but try to put it in a way that doesn't hurt !!!!!!!!
