Not this year .. They were a great team, but unfortunately lost some key players this off season. Jay McKee led the NHL in shots blocked. He also logged an incredible amount of ice time, especially on the PK. Speaking of which, the PK got a whole lot worse now that Mike Grier is gone. He could kill half a penalty on his own! Young talents like Pyatt and J.P Dumont have left huge holes up front. They'll still go far on Millers back, but not to the promised land. I'll still come down for 4-5 games (from Toronto) to cheer them on ... with a belly full of Anchor Bar Wings, of course.

I respect the sabres, their coach is pretty good. They were the one team last year that nobody paid any attention to and somehow were there in the playoffs. When it comes to the cup this comming season, I sadly dont think that Buffalo has what it takes to get there, maybe in a couple years they will. My prediction is that the Cup will Come back home to the West, where it belongs, I dont know which Western team it will be, but it will finally return to the West.

Altho I want the Ducks to win (and they have a great chance of winning), other than Teemu Selanne, Teppo Numminen is the player I would like to win the Cup. Besides, the worst trade the Avs ever did was to trade Chris Drury. What a dumb move that was!!!! Additionally, Jochen Hecht is just plain hot!!! So, if it isn't the Ducks, then I will be screaming for the Sabres.

YES! Ignore all the naysayers in here. The Sabres have the team to win it all! It is a perfect blend of youth, skill, speed and hustle with veteran leadership and a real sense of comradeship. I love this team!
And YES, the Buffalo Sabres are going to win the Stanley Cup in 2007. Bet on it!
GO SABRES!

If they do then there really is a God and he likes hockey.
I love those boys but I couldn't say they are the best team to ever step on the ice. Besides, the team is different this year, so how can we know?
I would dearly love to see this happen but do I think it will? Well, let's just say I think it could and hope for the best and love every minute either way.

What are you smoking you arrogant canuck, Don Cherry wanna be? Ryan Miller will be around for years to come, was it just luck that they made that playoff run that they did with all of their defensemen injured, that proved that Miller carried the load even more so, no I don't think they'll win the cup, but they might get to the Finals because they've got just as good a chance as anyone else in the league, this team is better without having a real superstar, they have several good players and a great coach.

Most definetly the Sabres will win their 1st Stanley cup, they deserve it. And to the first guy who answered this question, did you even watch them during the playoffs? Ryan Miller helped to get that team to Game 7 of the Carolina series, he is a great goaltender. Just watch, the Sabres are going to prove all of the non-believers wrong just like last season...LET'S GO BUFFALO!!

Put down the crack Pipe! The Ducks will Take the Cup think about it you have two of the best Defensemen in the league on the blue line together and Every line has a scoring potential and there are still strong Guys you can call on in the minnor league System so if you look at all those factors and the fact that they have two strong starting goalies it all adds up to the Ducks!

Doubtful. A lot of their good players went to arbitration, and their salary cap is gonna be real tight if they try to put a complete team on the ice.

they WILL NOT win the stanley cup for the following reasons:
1. They arent the strongest team in the East
2. They wont make it to the stanley cup playoffs ( a prerequisite)
3. Cinderella only lasted one night
4. Their salary cap went up over 14 million and could not keep a few key players.
