I've always loved Spiderman.
To me he's always been the best superhero because deep down he's a normal guy thrust into an extraordinary situation surrounding an unlikely chain of events.
He's an average student with a higher than average IQ. He comes from a low to mid income family. Situations arise where he gains these extraordinary powers, but fails to utilize them properly to save his uncle's life.
From there on he feels obligated to use these powers given to him by the spider for the better and to the best of his abilities. Even at the cost of a normal personal life.
"With great power comes a greater responsibility."
Such a wonderful phrase.
Peter sacrifices constantly to help others. And he does all of it without high tech gadgets, mutant style super powers, or invulnerability to human weapons.
To paraphrase Shakespeare... "If you prick him does he not bleed? If you tickle him does we not laugh? If you poison him does he not die? And if you wrong him shall he not seek revenge?"
Other than the powers the spider gave him... he's just HUMAN.

Batman.
He was one of the few superheros that did not actually have any superpowers, yet he was still able to save many people. I mean if you actually had superpowers you really have only the choices of either become a superhero or villain or go into hiding and have serious issues. Batman actually made the conscious decision to put his own life at risk to protect others. He also had one of the coolest costumes and gadgets.

Superman. He was my favorite when I was a kid and still is. He wears a half way decent costume instead of looking so Halloweenish. And most of all he is not afraid to show his face. I felt this way as a kid and still do! His cape is for balance when flying and the Big S is for identity.... as if he needed any, LOL. Any way that was my reasoning as a kid. He could have done without the tights though. But.... as a grown woman I think the tights are rather nice, shows his physique very well.. Ohhhhh yeah...

The Monarch,... He was the best underdog bad guy.
as for a super person,...
Rogue,... she can copy or totally absorbe the powers of another super person, or being.
If she weren't a goodguy-person, she could easily absorbe the powers of countless super dupers and be the most powerful of all super beings both good and e'vile combined.
Other than that, she's cute and hot (the comic version is the best).
It's really too bad though, Dr. Girlfriend did "look" hot. But she sounded too much like a drag-queen to get me going, . . .
Know what I mean - VERN ???

Batman.
i think he is the most noble hero ever. He's a hero whose ultimate goal is to not exist. All he is fighting for is a world that doesn't need him. That is why he gets the amount of respect Superman gets from other heroes.

Batman and V for Vendetta.
Because they are normal guys who have trained themselves to be superior level Olympic athletes, experts in many different martial arts, weapons, science, engineering, detective skills, and are scholars.
They also have cool gadgets, costumes and a sense of style.

The Tick. I have never read the comic, but I remember the cartoon and it was hysterically funny!
After The Tick, Blasto. Does he count? I seem to have a "thing" for big, dumb guys in tights....weird.
