Asbestoes siding is generally safe as long as it is kept painted and has not disintegrated. The asbestoes fibers are captured in the siding and should not pose a threat. If it is removed, it must be packaged in an approved manner and disposed of in a licensed hazardous material landfill. In my part of the country, it is commonly covered with vinyl siding rather than removed.

Good luck with your siding.

Do not take me to be asbestos expert in any way!! But I am a Builder with over11 years of experience. From what I know asbestos is best left undisturbed! It posses little to no danger if is not touched, broken apart, and in solid condition. If it is falling, and flaking apart, then call someone qualified to do asbestos removal.

If its not beaking apart and in good condition, leave it alone unless you want to do a major renavation to your home. keep the paint on it, but if it's really bothering you, get an estimate from a company that specializes in asbestos removal and make sure they have the certifications to do it.

It needs to be removed, but legally you cannot remove it or cover it up yourself. It is hazardous and should be treated as such. It has to be removed by a Haz Mat team.

As long as the siding is in good shape and not crumbling apart it's safe. Keep it painted or if its really bothering you leave it in place and cover it with vinyl siding.
