You should try to look as professional as possible. Traditional interview attire for women are a dark, fitted (but not tight) suits. The best colors are black or charcoal grey. Always wear a skirt to a first interview WITH stockings (sheer, nude or black). Work heels or pumps (no loafers). A watch, small earings, and pearls or a very small, modest necklace. No bracelets, anklets or other body peircings. Be sure that you wear a nice blouse or button up dress shirt under your suit. You will be taken more seriously.

***Edit***

The skirt should cover your knee caps, but does not have to reach your ankles. Anything shorter will be considered a mini skirt and anything longer is not a traditional suit.

I would have to totally agree with what Meg wrote. She knows what the interviewers should be looking for. I would wear your hair up if it is long. Just because I know when I get nervous, I play with my hair too much. Remember, if they ask this question, which they usually do. Where do you see yourself in five years. Tell them that you see yourself working at the Los Angeles City Hall doing whatever position that you are applying for. If you say that you plan to go back to school, raise a family, or anything other than working for them, they will not think that you are going to be there for the long hall. Good Luck.

What type of job are you interviewing for? I assume that it's at the City Hall, it must be some sort of office/legal job. I would suggest that you wear a tailored pant or skirt suit. Something that looks professional. You want to stay away from poorly fitted clothing (too tight, too loose, too much skin showing) and clothing that are not properly pressed and cleaned. Make sure your shoes are practical (no stilettos!). Good luck with the interview!

What position are you applying for? I would wear a simple outfit, in subtle colors... probably a suit. But, it does depend upon your desired position. In two weeks, it will still be warm in LA -- so, I would go with a light-colored outfit. I would also avoid high heels and open-toed shoes. Closed-toe shoes are more formal than open-toe. And, I'm pretty unsteady and awkward in high heels so I'd have to go with a low heel or flat (I'd hate to twist my ankle or trip and fall at an interview -- I want to march in there with confidence!). I would say that the more prestigious the position, the more formal you should be. IE: Court runner = still dress up, but don't feel the pressure of wearing a funeral outfit; Judge's Clerk = dress up and show them that you respect them enough to wear your Sunday best. Good luck!

It depends what the job is for. Probably wear a gray skirt and a nice blouse with heels. Or if its not that big of an interview then maybe like bright colours that make you stand out. Hope this helped you. Good luck on your interview!

I agree with Meg. I would say a suit. Failing that, make sure to wear nice pants and a nice shirt. Good luck with the interview! Do NOT wear mini skirts, jeans, t-shirts, etc. Remember, you want to set a GOOD example, and impress the people. Think "Devil Wears Prada", if you've seen it.

Wear a dress (I think you are a girl) and nice shoes. It is better to be over dressed than under.
