My wife is an ultrasound tech, we were in a car with another couple and the other wife in the car said to my wife did you do anything strange today? My wife said, "yes, there was this 22 yr old guy that came in and usually they cover themselves with a sheet, but this guy didn't and his penis came half way down to his knee, I was thinking oh my god that thing is huge!" Laughing the whole time. Then says, " I was doing ultra sound on his testicles and it kept getting in the way so I kept having to pick it up and move it!" Heheheheheh! I wanted to call her a who*e and smack her face! I didn't say anything right then and now she doesn't understand why I'm mad, she say that's part of her job. I said, your job is to tell someone how to properly drape themselves and ocassionally you'll have to professionally handle a situation. I think it's imature and unprofessional for her to bring something like that up laughing, and also with no reguard for how I may feel.

Look, your wife wasn't talking about you. She was talking about some guy she had to do a test on. Men make jokes and comments about women all of the time. I can't tell you how often I could be sitting at a table w/ some guy friends and they would comment on what girl has a nice as* or nice boobs and the various sexual things they wanted to do with these girls. Plus, women like to talk about these things. I can't tell you how many times my girlfriends have described a guy's penis as a cocktail wiener.
So now you get a taste what women must listen to all of the time. Congrats.

So the patient had a huge penis & she talked about it. Big deal. Doesn't mean that your wife wanted to sleep w/ the guy. She probably thought it looked really funny. In case you haven't figured this out yet, most women think a man's penis is a funny looking, yet useful piece of equipment. Stop wining and move on, your wife is a typical woman, the patient had a huge penis and it had nothing to do w/ you.

I'll assume one thing:
Your friends were not or did not appear to be offended.

If that is the case, then this issue has NOTHING to do with what your wife chooses to say or not to say.

Your absolute RAGE (in wanting to smack her and call her names) over this says to me that this is about you. I say that because your anger, to me, doesn't fit the "crime." It's way too big.

I bet that if you thought about it, you could figure it out. Was there a time as a kid when you were really embarrassed but had no way to deal with it? Or when an adult did something inappropriate?

That's the issue here, not your wife.

I don't think she was unprofessional at all. She thought she was among "safe" friends.

Now... if your friends were clearly uneasy and embarrassed and she continued anyway, that's a different story.

Women are very unprofessional by nature. They are also very mean and cruel by nature, they just try to hide it, it is sad but is true, sorry, welcome to reality!. Obviously many women here try to justify her actions with stupid arguments. She can not tell that story because it is confidencial, and to tell joking and laughing, WOW. Very desrispetfull. And by the way she liked what she saw, she abused him, not only because she did not told him to cover, but also because she was geting the penis out of the way herself!, she should told him to hold the penis out of the way. And if he was doing the ultrasound was becouse there was a suspected problem with him, and in that sensitive private spot, obviously she not felt his emotional suffering. If it was her with breast cancer, I think she would react different, dont you think?
And she told that story with men around!!!!!!, only a woman to do that! And one of the men around her is her husband, I think she moraly cheated on you, because she was obviously aroused by the guy penis.

I am back. She was so distracted jerking the penis around, that probably did not do the ultrasound correctly, that guy might have problems.
I hope she was not laughing or joking or smiling when doing the ultrasound, because kind of thing happened to me many times, am i know happened to other friends of mine, a male Doctor would never do that, especially if the patient is a female.

Why do I get the feeling that you do not work in the medical field?
It is impossible to drape a male "properly" when doing an ultrasound on his testicles.
I have had to catheterize women when there were no females around to do the job. The first time was embarrassing, but I got over it. I have had to do a lot of other things that would embarrass most people. I learned to live with them.

Sometimes, especially in the medical professions, you have to use a little bit of "gallows humor" in order to stay sane. This is what your friend was doing. The offbeat humor is a way to relieve an awful lot of the stresses and strains involved in trying to save lives or make them better.
Maybe she was a little inappropriate in that she did not seem to realize that she was not with medical people.
But please cut her a little slack.

hum, well sounds like she didnt remember u were in the car!!!
i doubt the mans private was that big.& she isnt supposed to discuss her patients. privacy act!!!so wrong.
but she should have called an assistant in and told the man to cover up.
well actually if a male was there in her field, she should have excused herself & let a male worker take over. omg. iam sorry for you.
ppl can be so insensitive and nasty.

I agree with you Guy, she should have thought of how that would have made you feel to talk about what she did. If she had done her job professionally and had the dude cover himself then she wouldn't have had to do that, therefore she wouldn't have been talking and laughing about it.

I think you are over-reacting. She was joking, with a friend. So now she has to watch everything she says? No. Guys do this kind of crap all the time. Its not like she was at work talking like this. She was relaxing with you and another couple. Loosen up!!!

Yes, it was very unfeeling to talk like this in front of you. You need to talk to your wife about this and make it clear how she made you feel - but do it calmly without getting angry because if you're angry you're coming at this in a weaker position. It was very immature of her - good luck getting your message across.

you may also think that doctors are serious people but i know that between them they told millions stories like this even it is unprofessional . yes this is part of her job and i think at work they speak about these things. Tell her that u don't like she speaks this way to friends. She will understand. but don't make big deal of this story.

I can see where you would be mad, but I can see where she thought it was no big deal also.

She could have handled it differently, and it seems like the friend already knew so why bring it up again???
