Is there a book on it or web page. Example broad band sun light falling on a solar cell gets a electron but I do not want the reaction from the broadband light say I want the reaction from 1.6 micron, so what elements react at 1.6 micron or other defracted wave lengths to produce a electron to indicate the presence of the target.

Look through the NIST list of databases to see if they have what you need. The list of elements will be short, when you get into dyes and compounds, the search will require more in depth searching.
