Not hard just boring

The CPA exam is often said to be the most difficult test there is. I don't know, because I haven't taken it yet, but I believe those who have gone before when they say it is hard. If you are not up to the challenge, you may want to consider another field. If you are up to the challenge and you are interested in the profession, do not be swayed by the naysayings of those who are not. As for boring, evidently that depends on the person. I don't think accounting is boring at all. I find the field facinating. That's why I entered it. Take a few accounting classes and see if you think it's boring. Also, talk to some accountants or accounting professors about how they feel about their jobs. The answers will likely be quite different than those of the general public. What really matters is how you feel. I'm two credit hours away from a senior going for my Bachelor of Science in Accounting (I already have my Associate's Degree) and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sounds like you don't like a challenge? As a retired bean counter, I can say that I had a lot of fun. Hard work, sure -- there were a couple of times I worked past 3 am, then drove my reports to the airport to get them on a flight for next day delivery to the home office. Hard work, nah, not with computers that do all of the work that we used to do by hand. It's a piece of cake today.
Boring? Blegh! I managed to catch 5 people messing around with their branch office books. I know of at least 3 of them that served time for it. Then there was the dumb one who forged a signature on a pay check. Did it once, I discovered it. Got an undercover cop into the office. Did it the second time, and the cop was standing right behind her at the bank when she cashed the check. Busted!! lmao. Accounting can be fun. You just have to work for it.

Anything you don't have an aptitude for is hard and boring. People who think accounting is hard and boring don't have an aptitude for it. If you do, you might enjoy a career as an accountant--there are many different ways to be employed as an accountant. Talk with people who are accountants to find out how they spend their days--that can help you determine whether accounting might interest you as a career.

Good luck!

I'm not an accountant--I actually clean up after accountants and other financial personnel, but, yeah, it's boring!!! I have 150 huge file boxes of a company's payables covering three years and I will be individually reviewing every invoice. THAT'S boring. It's a SNORE!!! At least until I hit a goldmine of duplicate payments or overpaid sales tax, etc., then it's pretty darn fun.

Numbers are neither fun nor creative nor sexy, but if you're good at it, it pays well and people notice. That's always gratifying.

It's okay. But I wouldn't make a career out of it unless you really enjoy it. Some accountant jobs have decent income though. Sometime you gotta go with what works than what is fun sometimes I guess

Gosh, if you're going to bother learning the math, do something interesting with it. Be a geologist. You could specialize in volcanoes and live in Hawaii. Or specialize in river hydraulics and spend all your time kayaking or rafting. Or specialize in glaciation and ski all over the world. Criminy...accounting? Yikes.

Hard yes. Boring yes as you don't interact with to many people during the day.
