You don't really mean this, do you? Let Homer inspire you into the essay, with his brilliant compound adjectives: rosy-fingered dawn, sky-fallen river, the wine-dark sea. And take a look at Keats's sonnet, "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer". Most of all, focus on some aspect of the "Iliad" which interests you, so that you can then say something original about it. Each century produces its own translation of Homer, and you must write your own essay about the epic.
