The so called christians who are not supposed to judge and they are supposed to love thy neighbor are the ones that are the fastest to judge and hate. I have never figured out why so your guess on this one is as good as mine;

killerwhalesrule19,
I am a Protestant Christian.
"Why is it that the bible speaks against gays/lesbiens?"
If you believe the Bible, it is a sin to perform those acts that are defined as homosexual.
"Didn't God create us homo sapiens to love, support, and care for each other? "
No. He created Eve because God thought that it would not be good for Adam to be alone. Humans were created to do what Adam did; to walk and talk with God, to fellowship with Him. You get another sense of this if you read Genesis and see how Abraham spoke with God. There's a kind of friendship that the relationship develops into, without the 'familliarity' breeding contempt.
"How can God think that humans loving the opposite sex be a sin?"
It clearly isn't a sin to love one another. But the nature of what we carry; i.e., the sin nature, we tend to take things to a level that was not to be before the fall of man. We have a tendency to fall short of what was before, and the nature of all this; to corrupt. Important: Even if it isn't our intention.
"I thought believing in the devil is a sin or commiting murder is a sin?"
They are. But who can be sinnless? All killing is not a sin. I hope you know that. As in the Terrorists that plague the planet, some people need killing. I think that 'murder' is a better word than killing when it comes to knowing what God does not want us to do. Not that by not doing it, that we would be then sinless.
As far as the Devil goes; I believe in the Devil, I just am a sworn enemy to Him. I chose the side that is against him, and have become a target.
"Does being gay/lesbien automatically mean that you're with the Devil?"
No. It's a manifestation of the sin we carry. Not necessarily the devil's infliction. I think that most people are in essence, born that way. An alteration of how God made us. But not outside of grace homosexuals are, by definition; outside of grace. If they were, all whether homosexual or not are condemned. All they would have to do is one sin in their whole lifetime, and they would all be condemned, except Jesus. Since He died for the sins of the world, what would be the point? If all are comdemned anyway, it would have been futile for Christ to be prophecied, come, tell us that we can believe in Him and not go to Hell, die, be resurrected, and tell us to look to him again, ascend after telling us to follow him, send the Holy Spirit upon those that were at Pentecost, and have Apostles to spread the word, etc.
"Why are so many people these days are afraid of being near a person whom is gay/lesbien?"
I think that they figure that there is guilt by association. The one I heard went something like this,"If you hang around a gay person, you are probably gay. If you hang around people that do drugs, you'll probably want to do drtugs too." That kind of thing.
I'm sure that there are more reasons. Those are just the ones I could think of right now.
"THEY AREN'T CONTAMINATED WITH DISEASES SUCH AS RABIES OR STDS."
Well, most likely not rabies. But it is possible that they have STD's. But no more likely than anyone else, I figure.
"Why are there certain schools for people whom are gay/lesbien?"
I've never heard that.
"Why aren't there many groups in christian churches that have organizations supporting gay rights?"
If you are talking about a Chirstian Church, I would say that it is not like a Christian Church to support alternative lifestyles, and in my opinion, not their job. Their job is to spread the word of God, first. Gay rights and other rights are worldly issues that are not part of the churches agenda.
"Most importantly, why can't you be able to marry someone the opposite sex even if it's against the law?"
You might mean same sex. I think you can. In the old days, they didn't have ministers and churches. If you went into a tent with the opposite sex and had sex with them, you were them married. You became one flesh. There is no need to mince words here. We are the product of modern society that causes us to think a certain way. Do you think that Adam and Eve got "Married" by todays standards? I don't think so. So get married if you want. God does not need a state to recognize it. It would be a vow between you, you partner, and God. That's it. No earthly priest necessary either.

The truth is that the Bible can be translated from its original language into modern English thousands of different ways. I think that the part about homosexuality almost always stays the same, because it's such a deep rooted believe that nobody wants to mess with it.
On the internet, I have seen the stories of Sodom and Gommorah translated in ways that make homosexuality not the sin, but something else. Do a google search and you may find it.
As for being married, it's because of conservatives. They want everyone to follow their rules, whether they like it or not. They want control of everybody and their daily actions. If the choice was REALLY up to them, homosexuality would be a crime all together and may even be a capital crime.
It shouldn't be against the law because, assuming you live in the U.S., our Constitution is not based on the Bible and you cannot have freedom of religion if there are laws based off of the Bible. It's as simple as that!
Why should a Buddhist have a Christian law forced on them? Likewise, if there were laws that prohibited any Christian practices, they would all go nuts!
Also, nature is a funny thing. The world is a very populated place now. Much of the world is even starving to death. Maybe homosexuality is nature's way of slowing down or attempting to prevent overpopulation.

Wow, alot of questions here, but they're good ones. I'll try to awnswer them the best that I can.
The reason being gay/lesbian is a sin in the bible is because god told man to set forth and spread his seed. Anotehrwords, he told man to produce offspring- something of which gay/lesbian couples don't traditionally do (there are, of course, those who work something out- we'll go into that later.) It's not that loving the opposite sex is a sin- it's making love with the opposite sex that s considered a sin. I don't think it means your with the devil, so much as misguided in many people's minds. People are afraid, because they think it can be learned, that alot of people choose to be, and while some may choose it, others are born that way. As for being contaminated- unfortunately, there is a great deal of STD's in the homosexual lifestyle- however, it is not because they are homosexulas that they have them. If thatwere the case, tehn straight people wouldn't have them either. There are schools for them to help protect them. There are still alot of schools, that while they preach equality, and tolerance, are actually really intolerant, or just ignore cases of abuse done to homosexuals. The reason there aren't many groups in Christian Churches to support gay/lesbian rights is because it fundamentally goes against what they teach- and it goes against the bible. However, it is possible to marry someone of the opposite sex, even if it against the law, if you know law and religion. Say your with your parnter for seven years or more- then by all rights, you can be considered married- it's whats called a common law marriage. However, if ou were to move, you would no longer be married, unless it was into a community that knew you were married by common law. Also, if you know a Pagan/Wiccan/whatever highpriest/priestess, often times they will be willing to perform a handfasting, and while it wouldn't b legally binding, it is still a marraige. A Handfasting can be legal, unfortunately, it falls under the same issues as any other marriage in that instance- that it must be a man and a woman.
A while back, homosexual marriages had been passed in legislature in Mulnomah County, Oregon. Unfortunately, when it reached the state level, it was voted down, and Multnomah County couldn't perform same sex marriages anymore either.

The simple action is, it depends on what Church you are in. My parish, and most of my denomination (Episcopal) support gay rights and are fully inclusive. We do not believe that being homosexual is a sin. All of the United Church of Christ feels the same, as do the Brethern, the Unitarians, and I think (though I do not know for sure) the Unity School of Christianity. (there are other groups, I'm truncating the list). Other churches (Southern Baptist, etc) do NOT accept gays and do think its a sin.
Which brings us to the gay marriage battle, you have fingered the major issue that no one talks about. The gay marriage fight is really a battle between two groups of religious denominations - Christian and other in both cases. That battle is being missed by the media, and I believe that the battle threatens democracy in America.
One of the reasons for the Revolution, in which ancestors of mine fought -- was to establish freedom of religion in the new nation. Now, we are throwing that away, because contrary to what those on the Right would like you to think, this is not a battle between "people of faith" and "atheists" or some such -- this is a battle between two groups of people of faith, using the government to establish one side’s views -- the EXACT THING that the anti-establishmentarian clause of the Constitution is there to prevent.
Of course no one should "make" those whose faiths oppose gay marriage perform such marriages, and no one ever would. So ministers from the Southern Baptists and Assemblies of God and Ultra-Orthodox Jews and Fundamentalist Muslims should never be asked to perform gay marriages, and certainly not forced to.
On the other hand, why should faith groups that support gay marriage -- such as the United Church of Christ, the Unitarian/Universalist Society, the North American Spiritualist Church, Reform Judaism, and the Correllian Tradition of Wicca -- all recognized Churches and 501c3s be barred from practicing their religious faiths, which say it is ok to marry same sex couples?
The first group of faith groups is realistically using the government to prevent the second group of faith groups from practicing what they believe and having it legally recognized. The founders tried to prevent this, for the stability of the country. It doesn't matter that everyone "thinks" they are right and others are wrong -- it matters that we are plural as a society and the government should recognize everyone's ceremonies the same -- which means that gay marriages committed by churches and faith groups that believe in gay marriages, should be honored by the government regardless of what groups that don't like it say.
Everyone's beliefs can be honored, thus preserving the values that my 12 times removed Great Grandfather died for -- but not if we allow one side to legislate away the rights of the other side.
Since I do not believe the government should be used to control religious belief -- I think that the government should recognize gay marriage, when performed by members of clergy -- and should create a civil union equivalent for those interested only in secular marriage.
Otherwise we should stop saying we don't have an establishment of religion.

Reynolds Jones

So-called Christians, such as REVEREND Jerry Falwell love to foam at the mouth at any chance they can get, and criticizing gays is a perfect way for them to show their self-righteous arrogance and BIGOTRY.
Falwell thinks it is fine to put on such a holy show by acting like he is ordained by God, while selectively ignoring other things that are "wrong" according to the Bible -- such as his uncontrollable GLUTTONY.
Christians pretend to have a love of Christ for all people, but the fact is that they really don't want to be bothered with gay people. They will never trust them in their churches, and they will always be suspicious.
See the attached articles.

Dear Killer Whale:
I am astounded and HORRIFIED at the 'Christians' who have responded to your thoughtful and important questions. I was raised "Born-Again" and I am also the Gayest Gay Man on earth. So please know I understand your pain and frustration.
BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS are about the worst sorry *** excuses for human beings. They show no respect, and have little to zero compassion, understanding or love for anyone.
I hope I get to hear the good lord tear Jerry Falwell a new a**hole in heaven. Then I suspect he and I both will forgive poor misguided and angry Jerry, and all those like him. Obvious to me Jerry is pissed his Son is Gay as a 3 dollar bill. Same to every single Jerry esque so called 'christian' out there.
You all forget "judge not, lest ye be judged" you bunch of mean spirited bitches!

The Bible does NOT say anything about gay or lesbian people. There are a couple of stories about homosexual acts that the Bible talks about, but it is speaking in a context totally different from homosexuality as we know it.
Your message is somewhat confusing, but here's a good resource for you if you want to do some reading and exploring about homosexuality and faith.

Christians at their very best are just flawed human beings trying to make sense of life. Trying to understand what God wants from them.
But, sometimes they let their emotions overrule what they read in their owners manual, better known as the BIBLE. It tells them what to eat, what to avoid for good health. It tells them how to relate to their neighbors and yes the old testament is more strict and harsh then the new, but those were harsh times and Jesus came to reveal the other less well known side of God. Some of what you read in the old testament was written by men and not by God as were the ten commandments. Jesus made it clear that the greater part of the commandments was love and opened the door to a more "user-friendly" version of religion. A great many "Christians" have not made the mental transition into the new testament other than to pick and chose those issues which appeal to their selfish nature. They try to throw out the ten commandments in favor of a "Church that's happnin' now".
Christians who understand what Jesus taught do NOT hate gays. They merely disapprove of their lifestyle the same as they disapprove of liars, murderers, thieves, child molesters, and all who go against the teachings of the bible. True Christians would not ban gays from their church, they would welcome them and help them establish a relationship with God. Let God guide that person as to whether being gay is acceptable. No differently than if a confessed murderer who spent time in prison came to church and wanted to study about God. Or a man who embezzled money from people.
And I know that gays resent being classified with murderers and child molesters but that behavior is disapproved of by God the same as the other things I mentioned. I didn't write the book, I only read it. And it tells me to care about others and help guide them to a meaningful relationship with God.
I have a gay cousin who I hug every time we meet because I care about the person that he IS, not what he does. I sometimes am asked to say grace at dinner so he knows that as a Christian I disapprove, but that I also care.
Some people will spend a lifetime struggling with what God wants from them, and for them. That doesn't mean they are lost, it only means they are sorting things out in their head and with God. Until they draw their last breath, they have the opportunity to embrace God and all He stands for.

First, i think that you mean "same" sex and not "opposite" sex. Next, believing in the devil is not a sin. No where in the bible does it say that. In fact, we are warned about him. How can you be warned about someone you are not supposed to believe in? Anyway, we are to love EVERYONE, but that doesn't mean you have to ACCEPT the sin they commit. Love the person, hate the sin. Doing things out of God's order gives place for many things, including deadly things, such as STD's, which include AIDS and HIV and Hepititis and other nasty diseases. No, churches should not have organizations supporting gay rights because it is contrary to the whole foundation of chrisitanity. Homosexuality is an abomianation and nothing good will ever come out of it. All it brings is a bunch of confused individuals fighting for rights that will only bring down the nation in order to have some kind of sick desire fulfilled. SELFISH.

All the world religions espouse love of humanity...but still manage to whip up fear and hate. Look at the violence being perpetrated in the name of God around the world...whether Jehovah, Allah, Yaweh call him/her what you want, Muslim, Jew or Christian, if there is an omnipotent being h/she would embrace ALL love, would love all people made in his/her image. I am a lesbian, I am alive, I am here, God made me, so I am loved..I don't care how many antiquated verses of the bible can be quoted at me. The way i love is not a sin, and my life is not immoral.
