I think it's part of denmark but does it count as a country? The World Factbook has Greenland in it's own entry.

Greenland is not a sovereign country of its own; hence that it's a colony of Denmark. However, The world Factbook is misleading that it give each colony and dependent territory its own pages, which make it seem like a country. Nevertheless, Greenland has significant amount of self-autonomy such as it chose not to join EU.

Since the eighteenth century, Greenland has been a territory controlled by Denmark. In recent years, however, Greenland has regained a considerable level of autonomy from Denmark.
t wasn't until 2008 that Greenland's citizens voted in a non-binding referendum for increased independence from Denmark. In a vote of over 75% in favor, Greenlanders voted to reduce their involvement with Denmark. With the referendum Greenland voted to take control of law enforcement, the justice system, coast guard, and to share more equality in oil revenue. The official language of Greenland also changed to Greenlandic (also known as Kalaallisut).
Greenland reserves the right to seek complete independence from Denmark but experts currently expect that such a move is in the distant future. Greenland will need to try on this new role of increased autonomy for a few years before moving to the next step on the road to independence from Denmark.

It's a self-governing territory of Denmark. It's not a sovereign nation, although it has many of the powers of a country since Denmark grants it local control in most ways.

Ha looks like denmark got screwed in colonial times. While other countries like england, france, spain, netherlands, and portugal were getting carribean paradises....denmark got greenland lol

Greenland is it's own country. It is an island in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is not part of Denmark.

No, it is not its own country. Denmark owns it and its citizens are considered danish. Although it may have different culture traits than denmark it is still not independent.
