I am trying to get a job in Iraq.

I am going to try as hard as I can I have got to be able to pay for my house
I know to a lot of you 53K is not that much compared to what many of you have paid.
But I worked hard to get my credit back and did now I wonder if I will live long enough
To pay it off at this slow rate. I worry about going to Iraq I have been married 34 years
And have always been home with my wife and kids. Now that I have a home and 2,1/2
Acres I can see that its not just for me but for my wife and kids and grand kids
Some of you know the feeling its like God made it possible to have it now keep trying to keep it so at 51 I am ready to give it all I can for them. So can anyone tell me?
How dangerous is it over there what are the chances of making it back home to my Family. I feel even if I die my wife and kids will at least have a place to call home.
Also do any of you feel that way – Thank you tex_2585_8538

I was there. Don't even think of going with KBR. They lie and it is very disorganized. They got the hicks from Louisiana there and they are cut throats. If you get hurt, you will get NOTHING, look it up, there insurance company AIG denies almost all claims. There are people that were disable from a tent explosion, who are getting nothing. Not even there medical paid. You will be another pawn that Dick Cheney is using to make money off of. They charge the government 40% above your salary. It is depressing. I am home on medical leave and getting NOTHING!!!!. I have shrapnel still in me and they will not even remove that.. Do not sell yourself out.

Tex, please don't go. God help you. Its VERY DANGEROUS over there, that's all I can tell you. The war in my opinion is a major mistake; but aside from whatever your opinion is your life over there won't be worth a plugged nickel. Your family needs you here, anyhow---what do you think they would do if you were gone? People are worth so much more than property and things/possessions, and I'm sure you are precious to all of them. My son ( age 38, an ex Marine) keeps getting solicited to go over there. He is single, no kids, and he says "not on your life." He had enough in the Gulf War. Enjoy the years you've got with family, even if they are rough right now. They won't last forever, but your death will. "Tough times don't last; tough people do." All the best to you and yours!

Im in Iraq right now actually. Its not bad, only in certain areas. I am a US Soldier and I volunteered twice to come over here. If its your time to go then its your time to go. This is my second time over here two years in a row and I havent died yet. Some guys younger than me are dying left and right. IEDs are the big thing. Keep your head up man. KBR needs truck drivers and mechanics.

You are an absolute selfish jerk! Money, money, money,.....your family comes first, not you. Your odds of coming back safely are not very good,.....and your family is back home without you, and lose everything else in their lives. You better listen to Mistaken. Is your life worth such a small amount of money, is it worth hurting your family and breaking their hearts? You're not putting much value on your family.
