Hmong's history has been traced back as far as China, but since the multiple wars they've been involved in, Hmong has spread basically to all 6 continents (haven't heard of any Hmong in Antartica). From what I've heard & read, there's about a few family living somewhere in Africa; a dozen or two families in France; some in northern South America; a lot in Laos & Thailand, some still in China, some in Vietnam, India, Korea & Cambodia; there is a few families in Australia; and a large amount in Canada & US. There's a couple more countries with Hmong elsewhere too, and yes, they all can still speak in hmong (the language), maybe to a certain extent, but they still know at least a few words.
Side note: The majority of Hmong in American can be found in California, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Carolina & Michigan (top 5 states).
