I've played many other mmorpgs over the years,and found out most are just crap.Kill,get exp,rinse and repeat.World of warcraft has that addicting element for some reason and here is what i think it is.
In most mmo the world you play in is how would you say computer generated,and if your an experienced mmo player you can tell this,and so its not as immersive.the trees,the land,the hills,nothing really strikes you and sucks you in.
World of Warcraft's world was all handcrafted,has the artistic touch nature has,and was drawn and implemented by many artists.so it actually seems like your really in the enviroment being portryaed.Thats one reason i think WOW is so addicting.
WOW is the best mmo I've ever played,simply cause of that and I was able to progress solo in short durations of play(1-2 hours of play)Nothing humans love more then progress and the feeling of a living immersive world.This is my opinion however.please comment on what you think

I agree with you. WoW is a masterpiece. It is incredibly entertaining, challenging and fun. The only fault I have with it is that there's not much content for you once you cap unless you're in a solid guild and play frequently with friends. It is not casual-gaming friendly at the high levels because of its group requirements. However, because of so many classes and races, you have tons of replayability.
You're also absolutely right on the artistry and the sheer beauty of the game. Blizzard has created such a diverse world, yet each zone is unique and consistent. Since they avoided the cookie-cutter approach to the visuals, any place you're in is easily recognizable from the surrounding landmarks.
I'm looking forward to the Burning Crusade expansion this fall.
Fitty: By default, WoW doesn't support voice, but you can easily download all sorts of free voice communication software. Many players do that, and many guilds won't let you play without it.

I LOVE WoW. I used to play EQ2 and my boyfriend would play WoW... I was pretty stubborn saying EQ2 was so much bigger and the graphics looked more real and it was a way better game. Then I really sat down and played Warcraft, my EQ2 account was cancelled two months later and I'm still playing to this day. I'm a pretty casual player so I don't really get into all that high end raid stuff that most people do but I still find there's a ton to keep me entertained.
Although the cartoonish style of the graphics kinda bugged me at first I love them now. I'm sure it was just me coming from EQ2 where everything tries to look realistic (not to mention the graphics were overheating my computer and crashing it all the time...).
I can't wait for the expansion! <3

I'm a loser for x-box live. Nothing beats Madden, Tiger, PGR 3 and NHL!
Oh yeah WOW is pretty great, it would be better if you could use headsets.
I know you can do it with a clan if you know someone with a server but that just takes too much work. It should be intragrated into the game.

Dude! Last night i was in Stormwind and i've been playing for a several months and i was like whoa the graphics are insane. I was watching the moon light in the canal and i was like that's awesome. My addiction is worse that yours i play 3-8 hrs a day! in fact my gryphon is flying me sousthshore while i write this statement

You may be on to something there... the world is beautifully designed. That, along with the 'progress' may be what makes this game special.

i hate that game........try Battlefront 2 or Pirates of the Carribean Jack's Story
