Definitely, but as a part-time firefighter? Probably not a problem.

I live in an area where tattoos and piercings are very common. Facial and tongue piercing in a business environment always looks unprofessional, but I accept people who want to have their own unique style just like everybody else.
If you are a guy, your fellow firefighters will probably think you are gay. If you are a woman, they'll think you're really into fellatio. That's part of the message a tongue piercing says whether or not that is your intent.
Practically speaking, it seems dangerous running up burning stairs with a hunk of metal in your mouth. What if it popped out during the course of your duties? If that is unlikely then do your own thing and people will either accept you or they won't.

Yes. Definitely. I assure you it will look unprofessional to many, even to some in your personal life.
Remember. though...you are free to do whatever you want in this country, but the harsh reality is that most people at your job are likely without a piercing and do not understand why people get them (eg. the person who is your supervisor) and may assume that you are an immature adult trying to rebel. The even sadder truth about it is that some people may start treating you differently or make incorrect assumptions about your character and personality. Crazy, but true.
Judgment is rampant in the business world, and remember that most people who would judge for that are missing something in their own lives that are guiding them to think that they should judge. I think it makes them feel better about their own problems and life choices in some way.
Make the decision for yourself, but the key is your feelings and how important your new career is to you? It it a short term thing or do you want to be there for a long time? Are you willing to take the chance of negative reactions for something as insignificant as a piercing? Would that be something you would regret or be willing to accept. Ask yourself things like that and do what you feel is best for YOU. Good luck!!!
P.S. A friend got herself a tattoo and piercing for herself a couple of years ago. She was a 40 year old homemaker and got more sarcastic insulting remarks as well as negative attention than she wanted from it. (Personally, I think the other carpool moms were a little jealous of her bravery.) She removed the piercing because she realized she'd decided in haste, but loves the tattoo and that's all that matters to her.
God bless and stay safe fighting fires!

I don't see anything wrong with having your tongue pierced. Unless your going to keep your mouth open all the time. What is the difference of having a tongue pierced and a tattoo? I have a tattoo on my hand and I work in a professional environment. Nowadays they don't notice stuff like that because it's everywhere. Besides it's no ones business what you do to your body. And being a firefighter just makes your look even hotter with a pierced tongue! you go for it!

Sorry but yes it is a bit unprofessional, and in relation to interviewing the within would not topic in any respect. And in case you feel that's not real are trying doing an interview yourself. Thats what an interview is a first seem at any individual, and if they do not like one thing about you (with out figuring out you) you do not have the job. Do not blame it on the interviewer, this person sees a lot of humans, he has to make selections about persona centered on what individuals say and whats to your resume. And that's not handy.

Sorry yet definite it somewhat is form of unprofessional, and whilst it comprises interviewing the interior does not rely in any respect. And in case you think of that isn't actual try doing an interview your self. Thats what an interview is a familiar look at somebody, and in the event that they do unlike one ingredient approximately you (devoid of understanding you) you have not got the activity. do no longer blame it on the interviewer, this guy or woman sees various human beings, he has to make judgements approximately character in line with what human beings say and whats on your resume. And that isn't elementary.

As much as I think tongue piercing is unprofessional, I do believe you are in a unique position. If my house is on fire, I don't care to see your tongue...I just want the big hose sending out lots of water. What are people going to do? Call the OTHER fire department ???? I realize why you young guys like to get the tongue pierced. I haven't had any complaints in that department without the lingual aid...maybe it's your technique...

My coworker has her tongue pierced. I didn't even notice it until she stuck her tongue out to show it to me. If you don't show it off and have the stub be really small, it might be OK. I work in a lab, so tattoos and body piercings are OK, since we don't serve the public, but I don't know about firefighters. You might want to ask if there might be a safety concern with it, however.

I doubt a firefighter is allowed to have a tongue pierced. It's a very hazardous field and often firefighters have to breathe on oxygen masks
You cannot adminster CPR with a tongue ring. Sorry, it's a health issue. It the tongue ring is worth it, get into another line of work.
Good luck.

Fire departments typically have a very strict dress code. They are considered pillars of the community and strive to look the part. Tongue piercings do not look the part. They don't look the part of any professional career nor does anyone sporting one look like any kind of professional.
Yes, they would notice.
