In Pokemon Emerald version, In order to get the Johto starters do you have to get 200 pokemon from Hoen or can they be from anywhere?

no. you don't need to complete the pokedex. you need to get the national dex, so you can trade with colleseum, and you can grab them all from there, if you have a gamecube

you have to complete the pokedex then go to proffessor birch and he gives you a choice of which you want of the 3 starter pokemon from johto

yeah dude u have to get 200 pokemon from everywhere no matter from which area there is but my suggestion would be to get all the pokemon from hoenn and and evolve them that would be much faster.

My 9 year old son says they have to be from Hoen. I asked him for you. I, personally, have no idea! good luck!
