when you are shopping in a retail store and you hear the background music does it make you want to leave or stay longer, does it appeal to a certain age group, does it encourage or hinder buying at that store, or does the music distract you from shopping? Please tell the store that you are talking about!

Music appeals to different age groups and ethnic groups. If I go to a store and hear rap, hip-hop, etc, I do a run and grab or may just turn and leave. It is hard to find music which appeals to all. Stores might be well advised to do without the tunes.

The background music / "elevator music" / "Musak" played in most supermarkets and other retail stores, is generally offensive. If it is loud enough, It often makes me want to leave the store.

Hate to shop. In and out as quickly as possible. Stores that play Golden Rock are more enjoyable. Especially waiting in line.

I believe that the backround music in shopping malls is there to relax you and to take away any stress so that you feel good about parting with that dollar.

mm it depends. when its like rap n stuff it makes me wanna leave MORE. because who wants to shop while listening about a guy do it with a girl.. NOT ME. i mean oldies if good. or even just like. instrumentals. but. no rap. music is like candy. thro out the (w)rappers. :)

It makes me more cheerful, especially around the Christmas holidays. With all the hustle and bustle. It certainly helps calm me some. lol

ANNOYING WHEN ITS NOT THE TYPE YOU LIKE...MAKES ME WANT TO HURRY UP AND GET WHAT I CAME FOR AND LEAVE....IF YOU WORK IN RETAIL....ITS SOOOO ANNOYING TO HEAR THE STUFF, BUT YOU DONT HAVE A CHOICE.....CAUSE ITS PIPED IN.
