Why is the hard cover version of The Unloved, by John Saul, is so expensive used?

My feeling is the hardcover is probably out of print. When I checked in B&N and Amazon, I only saw Audiobooks and paperback. The limited number of copies in hardcover might have something to do with the high prices that people are charging, even for a used copy.
