I would like to know from any other f/a that have made it work out? I know at the beginning there is a training period in which i will be away from home and also on reserve should I pass the 1st stage BUT how long until I get to make my own schedule up? also, with holding a line will that make me at home more or less? what is the usual time away from home for most? also what is the salary like? I am currently making $45k and know there will be a huge paycut but I have done my research and read that f/a can make up to $60k or more, is that true?? Please help me out! I am giving myself a headache stressing this!! My hubby is all for it but I want to know if I'll be broke doing this change in career, I want to try something new and exciting and now is the time to do so!!

Any advice is greatly appreciated esp. from current flight attendants with kids/hubbies/wives etc... thanks!

I have gone for flight attendant positions a few times--as far as one-on-one interviews with United--and one thing you really need to know is that you may be assigned a hub in a different and likely undesireable state and you are expected to move there. Not until you gain a lot of seniority do you get to transfer to a hub of your choice...if it's available. You also start at the rock bottom of the pay scle. You can get increases, but it takes a long time to reach the number you're talking about. I'm not trying to discourage you, but I'm not sure this would be a good move for you. Nothing stopping you from finding a cattlecall interview and getting first hand info.

If your husband stands behind you on this and he agrees with it... because it can put stress on the relationship.. then why stress over it .only you and your husband can make the final decision on the matter..I would question how many hours and what flight schedule that would be if you were to make 60k ????? Are you looking for a career or what ???

My husband was married to a woman who quit her good paying job with an insurance company and became a flight attendant and they split up due to all the time away from each other. Besides if you're making good money, don't quit to become a flying waitress. Sorry to put it that way but why jeopardize your family.

Contact an Airline that you would like to work for and get information from them - don't take second hand info - it could be the wrong information - but - I think you can do it - your child is old enough - and your husband's all for it - go for it and good luck.

sounds like you are trying to be a teenager again. Are you unhappy with your family, feel tied down?

NO. It will do damage if you leave your family. Period!
