I bought a few multifunction units but went back to separate components! Much less costly to replace broken crap! By the way, you dont need a fax machine if you have a printer!

I'd say get separate units. keep or get another all in one but make sure it's just a scanner, copier, printer and buy another separate fax machine.
also depends on how much you really use the scanner function too. if you dont then there's no need for the all in one since you could just get a dedicated fax and printer separately. will cost you more but the constant overuse of one function won't degrade the printer all together you know?

Keep it seperate. We used to have an all in one for our office and nobody can print when it's sending/receiving faxes and vice versa. A good pain paper fax with a document loader is best and a printer that just prints is best.
The other thing is that if the printer stops working your fax doesn't go down as well, and if your fax stops working, you don't lose your printer/scanner.

If I were you, I'd stay away from all-in one solutions. They look cool as you think you have all features in one device but they alltogether have usually very bad performance and they tend to break easily. Better buy a printer and a fax separately. It will worth it,trust me.

For business: separate fax machine. Pick a LASER one. Will be ok for next 10 years.
All in one are never reliable and not "trustee" for business environment, even for a very small business.

it depends on what you want to archieve! if per say you are considering saving space, money etc you are better off buying a all in one solution but if you have a problem with the unit that means you will not be printing, scanning, faxing,or copying anything......................but if you dont care about life you are better buying modular solutions, it will mean that you night end up using all your ports but for convinience sake you are better off.

We have an all-in-one and I like it very much. But then, we use it for personal use, and not for business.

I have an HP Laserjet color 2840 all-in-one. I love it and you can buy a two year service policy on it, and support on their products I find excellent.
