Best way is by subway. Here's how you'd go.
Take the T (subway).
At the terminal, go to ground transportation next to baggage claim. Go outside to the curb.
Take bus 11 downstairs to the subway station.
Get on the Blue line (it's only the blue line @ the station) toward downtown (the far track).
Take it four stops to Gov't Center. At Gov't center, go upstairs where the green line is and take ANY of the green line trains heading outbound (B, C, D, or E) lines heading to Boston College, Cleveland Circle, etc,
Take the green line four stops (Park St, Boylston, Arlington, Copley) and you're at the Copley stop!
You're there! :-)

Are you renting a car? Then ask at the rental place - things keep changing ever since the ceiling collapse earlier this summer, and it's an absolute mess.
If you're taking public transportation, just take the T (our subway) from the airport into Boston, change to the Green Line (ask when you get there or look at a map on the wall to find out which direction) and get off at the Copley Square stop.

If you're going by T you'd have to take the Blue Line out of the airport, or a bus, to somewhere you could access or switch to the Green Line, which goes directly to Copley. Via car you'd have to really ask someone based on the exact day you're there because the roads that are open/closed change so often!!! The most direct way would be Storrow Drive or I93, but it depends how you can get to either of those routes. Best of luck!

Take the Airport Shuttle BuS to the terminal with the T (the public Transportation in Boston). When you get there, take the Blue Line to GOVERNMENT CENTER. At government center, change to the Green Line (there are 4 green lines ; B, C,D, and E). Every one of them go to Copley Square, so take any one of them going INBOUND. Copley Square is 4 stops away.
It goes from Gov Center to Park Street to Boylston to Arlingnton to Copley Square. Copley Place is walking distance when you come out of the station.
WELCOME TO BOSTON.
