No, Hurricanes are not hurricanes once they make landfall. But we have gotten high winds and torrential rains as a result of hurricanes. We have gotten flooding but not from storm surge. Storm surge occurs in coastal areas.

Right now because of the drought we would even take a leftover hurricane.

And based on the answers given so far, this is why I love San Antonio so much. We're not so far from the coast that we can't hit the beach as a day trip, but we're far enough in that we don't suffer the full force of hurricanes.

The rain we do get from a storm hitting land is always welcome around here.

Flooding can be an issue with a major storm, but luckily I'm not personally affected by flooding in the area of SA that I live.

San Antonio gets some rain & a little wind from some of the
hurricanes but it is too far inland to get anything serious...
I live about 50 miles north of Houston and we don't get much either.

nope because it is too far inland. It gets what is known as a storm surge which has flooded San Antonio time to time.
