The New York Yankees are the obvious answer to this question.
The reason for this is due to the Yankees' ability to attract the best players. Before the amateur draft and such things as salary caps and revenue sharing, the Yankees could just offer more $$ and fame to attract star players. Even now, the Yankees view the penalty for going over the salary cap as just a cost of doing business. When was the last year that the Yankees did not have one of the top (if not the top) salary total? How can small market teams (Royals, Pirates, etc.) compete???

The New York Yankees but surprisingly the second best record team with the most pennants and world series is the Cincinati Reds. My dad is a huge Reds fan and knows so much stuff about them.

Also, they've had the greates players such as, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Don Larsen, Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Thurman Munson and the list keeps going on and on.

I hate saying but it's the Yankees. They have what 40 appearances in the WS and 26 titles. I don't like the red sox in case I was giving you the impression I do.
I like the Dodgers. They have the most loyal fans in all of sports history. So if you ask me the greatest fans are dodger fans. Hands Down, no exceptions.
