I love all sorts of books, so please give me a few suggestions. Preferably contemporary books, although you can give me the names of some classics too if they are really good. Also-what is your favourite book???

A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin (An amazing epic famntasy series, my personal favorite, it is very gritty and harsh at times, but if sex and violence doesn't bother you too much, the plot lines are amazing without getting too hard to follow. There is a lot of detail, and it is a lot of politics, but the world created and the characters are better designed than any other fantasy I have read.)

Prince of Nothing by R. Scott Bakker (This is another fantasy series. It is basically the same as Martin in terms of grit, but this is a completed trilogy that is part of a bigger series, The Second Apocalypse, whereas ASOIAF is not yet finished, if you don't want an incomplete series. This one also struck me as very philosophical at points, and I really enjoyed it.)

Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt (I had to read this one for school recently and I adored it. If you haven't read it, definitely try it sometime.)

Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde (These are literary mysteries, and they are pretty damn funny. They're basically about a literary detective, Thursday Next, who has to go into books to corect plotlines and such. I really enjoyed them.)

The Teammates by David Halberstam (This is about four members of the Boston Red Sox-- Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Pesky, and Dom DiMaggio-- and the friendship they formed when playing together. It's worth the read even if you're not a sports fan, and even moreso if you are. Just a great tale of four friends, who also happened to be amazing baseball players. One of my personal favorites.)

Are You Dave Gorman? by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace (Just flat out hilarity. Anything by either of these guys is worth the read.)

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers (One of the best and most emotional books I've read recently. I absolutely loved this one.)

Okay, so there's plenty more I could rec, but I've listed quite the variety here, and if you read one of these and like it, come back and ask for authors that are like whichever one you liked! Hope there's something here that you'll enjoy!

I enjoy reading books by James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Jonathan Kellerman. A really good book called "The Autobiography of Henry VIII" is really interesting. Of course, it isn't an autobiography at all. It was written by Margaret George. If you like English History, you will really like this one. Hope I helped you.

Patricia Cornwell writes about a female forensic pathologist a lot.
Jonathan Kellerman is actually a psychologist and his books are very entertaining. He writes h a lot of fiction and has an interesting character in his book named Milo. He has also published some nonfiction books on psychology.

My favorite book of all time is "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Have a good time reading.

Have you ever read anything by Robert B. Parker? He wrote the Spencer stories. My favorites are the Spencer series, the Sunny Randall series and the Jesse Stone series. They're all about detectives who are hired to help various people but I love they way Parker makes the characters' personal lives so real. For example, Spencer is a detective who has one true love who is a shrink. Jesse Stone is a recovering alcoholic who is divorced from his wife but he can't seem to move fully into a serious relationship with anyone else because he is holding out hope for his ex and Sunny is a female detective who has a whole different set of problems because she is a woman.

If you decide to try any thing by Parker, let me know what you think.

If you have A lot of time on your hands, Shakespeare is amazing He is just so underrated these days. There are some easier plays of his to read, like "A Midsummer's Night Dream" And it's short.
A good classic is called "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (can't recall the author) it is an extremely funny novel told in "diary" form of a not-so-intelligent "career woman" blonde (who's career is gold-digging)
Harry Potter is good, too =)))
Oh yes, and one of my favoirte series is the "Shopoholic" series! Each is light-hearted, warm, and each a good book to curl up with in your bed on a rainy day! I think the author is Sophie (somethinf) but i can't be too sure. Her titles are "Confessions of a Shopoholic", "Shopoholic Takes Manhattan" and "Shopoholic Ties the Knot" These are not adolecsent books.
