Depending on the solvent you are using, you will be using different kind of drying reagents and distillaton.

Some examples of drying agents in general use for some solvents:

CH2Cl2: is normally dried over CaH2.

Ether, THF, benzene, toluene: dried under sodium wires and benzophenone is used as indicator, which turns blue when in dry conditions (radical reaction with sodium).

However, on rich laboratories, they use special cartridges where the solvent is passed through and collect dry at the end. Inside the cartridge there is a drying compound.

One Way is to add dehydrating agents like potassium carbonate in Acetone, and other is distillation method you have to just keep the B.p. of the solvent accurate while distillation and there are some solvents which form azeotropic mixtures with the solvents for example ethanol with water so in this case you have to use Dean And Stark Apparatus to separate the moisture and solvent

A drying process will do the same thing. you can also but equipment that will do the same thing.
You can use a dryer which can be steam heated to remove water/moisture.
I don't know what solvent you are referring to other than water, but water is "the universal sol event of the universe" and there are many methods of removing it.
Sometimes it depends on which other solvent you wish to remove water from, but heating is usually the best method if the solvent is not explosive, or of a deteriorating type. It usually requires safety and scientifically applied technology which can be purchased. Check out yahoo search and I think you can locate your method.
If you want to home do it fast and it can be heated safety use a container with copper coils coming out of the top into an other container for the water to fall into, after heating the water/moisture should be gone and the left over is your solvent.
This is the same method to make moonshine whiskey:):)

If your solvent is thick you can use a filter which will allow the lighter material to fall while maintaining the solvent.

Depending on the solvent u want to dry , MgS04, CaCl2, can be used for drying , if the solvent is inert and with less moisture , sodium wire , will be used sometimes for drying , so u add the dryer to uer solvent and then distilled it, sometimes the dryer used are efficient and there is no need for distillation , depending on the purity of the solvent u want to use.
