I suggest a cat for an apartment. If you get an older litterbox trained cat it is more likely to make less of a mess. Also, it will not make lots of noise. Plus, it doesn't need to go outside, however far away you are from the road. You are much more independent with leaving, dogs you have to be home every 12 hours to let them outside to go to the bathroom. Cats could live alone for 2 days, more if someone checks on them every 2 days. They are affectionate too. I know kittens are wonderful and irresistible, but please consider an older animal from an animal shelter. They need rescuing so badly. Just visit a shelter. The cats don't stop purring when you hold them. They are so sad and attention starved though the staff try. They are slightly more expensive, but you're rescuing an animal and it'll love you so much more than a kitten!

Cats can be messy but so can dogs but in all u live close to the road and dogs like to be outside and play but unlike cats they r laid back and they dont really care for the outside so I would think u should get a cat

Either a cat because they pretty much take care of themselves except for the food, water and litterbox, or a very small dog that you don't haveto walk a whole lot because it would get most of it's exercise inside your apartment. Also they don't need a lot of space. I am thinking of a chihuahua in particular. I have read that they like nothing better than to sleep in your bed because it's so warm and pretty much everything elseI I wrote about small dogs. Have fun! :)

Sinec you live so close to the road you should probably get a cat, because their usually house pets and dogs like to go on walks and all.

Cats sometimes spray. That's why mine live outside. Get a small dog you can leash train to take out for potty breaks.

either one seems like a good choice depending on what kind of work u r willing to do dogs need alot of attention, walks and potty breaks outside, cats have the litter box and if they pee on anything u will never get the smell out...Whatever u decide please get one at the humane society...too many pets are being destroyed...good luck
