You won't... at least not any place that is trustworthy.

So much depends on finite details related to an antique that there is no way that any reputable dealer would be able to discern the true value of an item without viewing it in person.

Sometimes, the most subtle nuance will make the biggest difference in an estimate: like the tint of a patina.

Also, viewing things in person is the only sure-fire way to determine if something is a replica/fraud or not.

Finally, there MAY be a few dealers out there who will try to come up with a broad ballpark figure for you, just to be helpful... but those ranges can sometimes be SO broad, they prove useless. They can't/won't give you a refined answer because of our litigious mindset nowadays: Someone appraises something offhandedly for only $500... only to have the original owner later find out it was worth $5000 and a lawsuit ensues. Most dealers aren't willing to face anything like that, if they can help it.

So, if you DO happen to come across a company that is willing to give you an estimate online... take their valuation with a grain of salt. They're not worth your time.

nowhere... it all depends on what condition the stuff is in... You are better off going to the book store and getting books that value your stuff. If it's worth anything, chances are, there's a book on it.
