what kind of job do you have?

if a paralegal, or lawyer, i don't think you have a choice.

if in business, you can try and be more casual but still look professional for business clients, maybe add some color.

if in the escort business, look for designer labels.

I too work in a business environment where I have to meet with clients some of the time so this is what I do.
To address you black/navy suit dilema, this one is easy. First of all, don't limit yourself to pants only. suits are worn regularly with skirts. Secondly, you do not have to wear only black and navy unless that is what you company requires.. Suits these days come in a variety of colors. Be creative and wear different colors. Third, boots are definitely in. They look great with long skirts as well as with gauchos (long skirt looking/ short pants) Some suits are being made with this type of pant included.
I hope this helps you figure out what to wear to work. Oh and by the way, save some of your less dressed looking suits and dresses for Fridays. This helps you always know what you are going to wear.

In this day and age business casual is appropriate. Even for an interview. I'm not talking blue jeans and short tops, but regular slacks and a nice top. I was just recently hired at a large insurance company. I interviewed in an all black outfit of slacks and top. I accessorized with a hand made necklace to give a little color to the picture. Business casual can be very nice to wear when meeting clients. It gives an air of comfort-ability but not so relaxed that they'd have to worry about their money if they met with you.

I've worked for a large bank, a youth orchestra, and a musical theater academy. Each was business casual. As for shoes and boots, yes boots are still in, but I'm not talking those big chunky biker style boots. My suggestion is find what is business casual for you and amp it up with jewelry, scarves cool pins. It will work and you'll kick butt in doing so. Not only that, but you will feel more relaxed and at ease during your interview and will show your best side.

When you do go to an interview, of course, you must always be prepared and you should know all about the company. Check with people who work there or who knows someone who works there. Ask them what the dress code is and go from that. Good luck in your interviewing. Remember, people want to hire people who are comfortable in themselves.

Try wearing a skirt instead of pants - but in a business situation make sure the skirt is not too short. I love minis but they are inappropriate for business. Long skirts are great, as well as midcalf and just over the knee. A suit for an interview is almost always a winner. Once you get the job you can judge by your surroundings. As far as I am concerned - boots are always in! I live near Phoenix and wear boots year round. If you are tired of 'dark' colors, earth tones are great and match almost anything. Your hair color also dictates what a good color for you.

Remember this... you want to be remembered for who YOU are and not what clothes or cologne you wear. The black/blue suits are still suggested attire for a formal interview. If you want a slight change up then vary the color of the shirt you wear under the suit. It may keep you happy, and help land the job.

You could go with lighter colors, I do. However make sure it is not too trendy or faddish looking and also that it remains neat and impressive. I would do boots as long as they are professional and neat looking also. . .I wouldn't get crazy with designs, glitter or spurs on the back of them! Although I'm sure you wouldn't! Nothing too revealing, but there is a lot of cool clothing out there that is appropriate for work and doesn' t make you look like you are going to a funeral!

It depends on what business you are in but in my opinion the white button down shirt works.Khaki is also a good option, you can spice it up but remember not to go overboard just a little accents to your attire will do.Think accessories, a scarf,a belt,it could work. But all in all trust your instinct
