Actually, you should probably ignore those items and just set the router to automatically request this information via DHCP.

This information comes from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) An easy way to get this information is you plug your computer into your Internet modem. On your computer,
windows,

1. Click Start, Run....
2. XP/2000 TYPE cmd
9.x TYPE command
3. XP/2000 TYPE ipconfig -renew
9.x TYPE winipcfg -renew
THIS WILL GET NEW IP INFORMATION FOR YOUR COMPUTER.

4. REPEAT THE ABOVE COMMAND with -all instead of -renew.
Write down the DNS, IP, SUBNET MASK, AND DEFAULT GATEWAY.

5. RESET YOUR INTERNET MODEM. usually, just unplug it for a few seconds.

6. On your router, you have the option to insert this information manually, type in the stuff that you wrote down earlier. Or you can set it to DHCP, where it will pick up similar information from your ISP.

Once your router is up, you can connect to it.

A home router with DHCP server already on? Then network configuration is Dynamic IP and automatic, those info will be passed on every bootup for all devices connected to it, forget about these, any setting should be removed as the device is connected to that home router box.

I take it your converting from a single computer connected to a cable modem or a dsl modem to cable modem connected to a router then to multiple computers.
1. with one computer that is connected to the cable modem and able to surf the internet.
GO -> Start >run and type cmd (to open a dos prompt.)
in the dos window type ipconfig /all this will give you the complete list of what you need.
