I have these big tall evergreens in my back yard 5 total,(junipers I think) they stand about 18 feet tall and 8 feet around two of them are starting to turn yellow/orange at the base going up about 7 feet, the branches are dry, they crack like a dry stick when you bend them, the rest of the tree is green, however, the yellow/orange keeps going upward, are they dying? is there any kind of spray I can put on them, is it too late? I have a few cats that like to visit my yard, could that be the problem, I think I know the answer to this question but I hate to lose the evergreens, does anyone have any help? The climate is Albuquerque NM, it's been going on for about 1and1/2 years, I have tried soil sul and sprays the nurshery sugested, to no avail.

IF YOU HAVE DOGS RUNNING LOOSE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD THEY COULD BE USING THEM FOR AN OUTHOUSE. CATS DO THAT, TOO. GIVE YOUR EXTENSION AGENT A CALL, HE COULD HELP WITH IT.

first, are you shure they are junipers? junipers are usually a bush about 5' high. The trees you are descibing could be Tamarack (aka Larch) which is the only conifer(needle like leaves) that is decidious (turns colors in fall with loss of Chlorophyll and loses leaves in winter). I don't know why they are going from th bottom up but it sound like they are larch

You may have mites. Ask your garden center for help. The area that I'm in is if you bring in a sample of the dying folage they can identify the problem.

You might have bag worms. If this is the case you need to spray or they will die.
