He who dares wins. Shock and awe. Mission accomplished.

The March of Folly. The arrogance of office. There are none so blind . . . (or is it rather: Dans le pays des aveugles, le borgne est roi?)

Not great enough interest to be well informed enough to prevent our government's escalation of the current international mess into disaster.

Too many people are too afraid and too credulous to doubt what they've been fed. Independant research takes time, the willingness to dig, and the determination to set aside one's established biases sufficiently to become truly educated.

It's a daunting and difficult task. For most people, it's just easier to let others, 'the experts,' do their thinking for them. They wouldn't be experts if they didn't know all this stuff already, right?

The fear factor is huge as well. How much easier to just utilize superior might to annihalate our enemies, than to change our way of relating to the world. We're afraid, so let's destroy the thing we are afraid of. We have the weapons, and we don't really believe we can't control the outcome.

Truly understanding the scope of what our government is doing means facing one's fears, to a degree. The more you learn, the more scary it is. It takes a particular type of courage, and the willingness to accept that America might be in the wrong. For many, it's just more tolerable to fight, without truly understanding why.

1. Adding a question mark to a sentence doesn't make it a question.
2. To answer the question I think you were asking: I think that a large portion of our nation isn't interested, but there are people who are including myself.
