....and there is such hatred towards what few blacks there is. In my school there is only 3 or 4 and everything is directed at them. I have a really good friend that is black and school has only been back in session for 3 weeks and she's already had so many things happen to her...being beat up for one. I stand up for her all the time but it doesn't seem to be making a difference, I think I need to do something bigger but I don't know what. Please help because people are acting ridiculous and ignorant and I don't know what to do. Another question, is there any way to stop the KKK from marching? Thanks for the advice and help.

Oh, and don't tell me to go to the counselors at school or the principal because they'll act like they are going to do something while you are setting there, but when you leave they couldn't care less. I've been to see them before and nothings been done. There's still nooses being found everywhere and all sorts of things :(

In the 5th district of Kentucky there is only 3 or 4 blacks....do not say this is a load of BS because it sure as hell isn't. Go to the town next to us and you'll find that there is NO blacks.....good grief people, why would I make this up and then ask advice on it? Just because you don't see this where you come from doesn't mean I don't.

going to the media is a good thing.
Find other like minded people and get the consent and participation of adults and leadership in oyur community and organize a march of your own. A large group of people, diverse in color and nationality- take a stand and claim your community against racism. Let the KKK of your community see that they are outnumbered by those who will not stand with them and will not be afraid of them.

Oh my goodness! How sad for you and your friend! What an environment to have to grow up in!!

Have you spoken to your parents? Do you know of another adult that feels the same way you do, that knows it is wrong to discriminate and who find the KKK a scourge on society? Are your parents supportive of your relationship with people who are different than you?

Do you go to a public school? If you do, you could contact the State Board of Education and speak with someone there. Discrimination is illegal, as we all know, but it is rampant. But, State Bd's of Ed. oversee the distribution of money to school districts. If someone exposed how bigoted the school is (by virtue of the school administrators not doing anything about the abuse) their funding would be threatened.

If still no one did anything about it, I would write a letter to your local media - TV station & newspaper.

Don't give up because you have a conscience and everyone else is too ignorant to care!

Bravo to you for doing what is right!!!

Because we have Free Speech there's no way to prevent the KKK from saying what they want. The only way to keep them from marching is to try and get the city to deny their demonstration permit.

I'm sorry that your friend is going through this. This kind of bullying and racism shouldn't be allowed by the school district. Try complaining to the school board. Try contacting the ACLU or the NAACP.

I'd also contact a major media installation and see if they might have any suggestions.

And crosses burned in yards.........sad but true
No you can't stop them the have to get a permit amd after that its fine for them to do it.....
I live in the south so I have seen it in Georgia..Alabama I would never go to any rally to support black or white there is always trouble
She knows who she is she need to be strong and you to
you will never change the hatred on either side there are a lot of blacks that hate whites and attack them in different ways
Maybe one day people will stop breeding hate and acceptance
all of those groups are crazy stay away and watch your back both you you

Got a telephone book? got the internet? can you reach the aclu or the naacp, or any group which fights for the rights of others? You asked this question before, but, obviously, the advice I gave back then was not sufficient to get you motivated to do anything.
What town do you live in? I'll call the two 'rights' groups myself.
Or, at the least, send an email..

unfortunatly people are still ignorant and you can't stop the marches. they're using their right to free speech. i praise you for standing up for your friend. it's sad that there are still back country towns that can't learn to let go of the past. the best i can say is support your friend. chances are you are not the only person who feels this way in your school. you can always stand up for yourself no one has the right to take your dignity away. if your brave enough i'd try to start an anti hate group in your school or community. it just takes one person to get the ball rolling. best of luck, don't feel bad for yourself, and just stand up for what you believe.

Go to the media. Find kids who feel the same way and start a revolution. Do anything to get these injustices out in the open.

No there is no way to stop their marching...it is freedom of speech. Next time your friend is getting beat up why don't you put yourself between her and the attackers. Give yourself wholey to what you believe in. Until you're willing to do that, there is no hope for you because your concern is only on the surface/for face value..and you will never accomplish anything that way.

Don't talk to the principal... get together a group of like minded people and take it straight to the mayor. You need to get people who are old enough to vote to write letters and let it be known that this cannot continue. Next time the KKK marches, hold a protest. March yourself, but spread love, not hate.
