I know what green day is. It's a day when you smoke pot. although green day named themselves that cos they heard it from ernie from sesame street and they really liked the name so they used it to replace their earlier name, sweet children.

Their name wasn't originally Green Day. It was changed to that after Billie Joe smoked pot for the first time.

Huh ... I suppose it means a day when they kick back and smoke marijuana then ... Oh wells, if bands name themselves after alcoholic beverages, why not Green Day? =^^= It's the music that matters anyways, as well as the messages that they bring.

It's a term for sitting around stoned all day, and they heard it said on Seasame Street while being stoned, so they changed their name from 'Sweet Children' to Green Day.
Although, they have said that since they have become fathers, it's very rare for them to just sit around stoned.
