How to I click on it to view a webpage?

Its a bit of executable code that is generally used with Internet Explorer.
It is prone to security problems and malicious scripts and its recommended to avoid it if at all possible, especially if you don't know who its from.

Use Firefox:- http://www.getfirefox.net/ (or Opera:- http://www.opera.com/) browsers instead which uses a different type of code (usually javascript) which is far safer and does not execute any code on your machine

Not sure but i have apparently assigned it to media player and now every time I click on a web page that has sound i have to click a button to tell it to run .... really annoying

Click on the Gold bar from the web page request it and download it from window appear.

activex is in control with java which is software to run things on your computer like vidios and other programs
