I'm going to be a senior in high school in Buffalo, NY and obviously college is really weighing on my mind right now. I've been considering Michigan State, but today I got a letter from the University of Michigan and I'm wondering: which is better and why? I'm interested in an honors programs, foreign languages, and study abroad options. I'm not really into athletics. So which is better? Or should I ditch Michigan altogether and try somewhere else for college?

I got a 2180 on my SATs, 1500 on the old scale. So I don't think I should be really concerned about admissions to most places...?

The University of Michigan is one of the finest universities in the U.S. Michigan State is great for jocks and binge drinkers. Sounds like UofM would be much more to your liking.

DAMN when i took SAT, the max was 1600....UofM is more famous simply because of their football team....which means nothing to you unless you want to be a pro-football player...BUT if you ever move out of the state, U of M will have more appeal to someone hiring....
I moved here to work in the auto industry, and regret it. Look around you....chances are where you live there are tons of houses for sale, and lots of abandonded businesses..
If you have the opportunity go west or go south, you will have better opportunities, and you wont miss the harsh winter.

Did you know the University of Michigan did not allow a female student in because she was white? She sued and won the case against the university but the Surpream Court over turned the decision. The swing vote was from a female named Sandra D. Oconner. She said it was OK not to allow her in school based on the color of her skin. Wow have we come a long way! !!!!

Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana
Everyone there pretty much studies abroad.
I also has great honors programs.
You do have to be VERY smart to get in. Meaning having high SAT and ACT grades. GOOD LUCK!

Both are good schools, U of M has more prestige. Ann Arbor seems more urban than East Lansing.
