Do ticks get born from dust/dirt... or do they have to jump off another place. Are ticks the bug that sucks blood and jumps really high for its size/weight?

Ticks suck blood and carry many diseases that are dangerous to dogs and humans. Ticks tend to live in wooded areas and areas with thick grass, dead leaves, thick underbrush, etc. If you have a dog or a cat, I highly recommend getting a flea and tick preventative from your vet (vets are the only places authorized to carry the truly effective ones, and OTC's can kill your pet). There is a Lyme Disease vaccine available for dogs, but a dog can still get other diseases from them.

Ticks are usually found in tall grass and wooded areas, when and animal brushes by, the tick grabs on and starts sucking blood. Fleas are the one that jump really high, they also suck blood, but they don't hang on in one place like ticks do.

Nothing is "born" from dirt, it either comes from an egg or directly from the body of another member of its species.
Fleas and (I'm pretty sure) ticks come from eggs, but the eggs are very tiny and hard to see.

Ticks do suck blood and spread lime disease so be sure to bathe your animal in flea and tick soap on a monthly or even weekly basis!

What you are talking about is fleas. If you have them in your house, after you vacuum your house you must throw away the vacuum bag or they will come out of the vacuum and re-infest your house.
