What are the advantages and disavantages of faux suede?

I'm interested for a jacket. Will it be durable in time? Will it not ruin in contact with rain? Thank you.

no animal dies for it
it's usually cheaper
comes in more colors
is sometimes washable
probably won't be ruined by rain

cons:
not as heavy/warm
probably won't last as long (it'll last years, not decades)
